Summary: I guess I'm not a fan of Jude Deveraux.....
Review: This is my first Jude Deveraux book. I found myself "cringing" throughout at what I found to be its ridiculous predictability. I love the concept of time travel and that's why I bought the book. However, try as I might, I could not immerse myself in this story. Granted, I tend to read mysteries, thrillers & historical fiction and not romance novels, so perhaps that is why I found it so disappointing. Nothing about this book is intriguing or new, and you see what is coming next a mile away. Even as a romance novel, I think it would be disappointing because the love story is so sappy, juvenile and unrealistic that it's embarrassing....or so I thought!

Summary: A pleasure
Review: This book is written in great detail, and is an engrossing read. I really couldn't put it down. Deveraux's narrative is amazing, and her characters have depth and are out of the ordinary. The story is about a romance author who is 39 years old, unwed, and just broke up with her fiancé. She does so because she is in love with a character from a book she is writing. She decides to go to a psychic who tells her she has a soul mate she hasn't met yet. That's why she can't find happiness yet. At some point she decides to let a hypnotist put her under, so she can go back to discover why her soul mate and herself haven't met and have been unhappy through the centuries. From here the book describes in detail the trip back in time, which is one of the best features of deveraux's books. She is always true to the time she is writing and does so in amazing historical detail.
So, Why did this book get only 4 stars? Well, because of the ending. It was rushed, and disappointing. It almost ruined the entire book for me. If your looking for a good, in depth, read, this is the book. But, be ware the disappointing ending.

Summary: What a connection
Review: Ok, let me just start out by saying that I usually give myself about 3 to 4 days to finish off a romance novel. It took me just about 2 days to finish Remembrance. For me, I utterly and completely loathed the idea of having to put this book down to eat, do chores lol, and to sleep.
Alot of romance novels that I have read are very predictable and to the point. I loved that with this book, that it kept me guessing and that I truly felt a sincere deepness intertwined within the story. If you are one who is interested in past lives and soulmates and like to see how other people think it works, this is a great read. If you like smart romance stories where the characters aren't thinking about just sex then this is also for you. Overall, this is a book that captured my mind and heart and I know that I will revisit it over and over again.

Summary: Another good one.
Review: I read three of Jude Deveraux novels in a row when I first got interested in reading romance. The first was Knight in Shining Armor and this was the next. This book is not as good as Knight but it is better than some of her others (i.e. Temptation...). I very much enjoyed the ranting at the beginning defending romance novelists and their readers. I also enjoyed the ACTUAL STORY in this book. Many romance novels do not have any substance whatsoever and are painfully predictable. The plot here is intricate and interesting. You actually have to put effort into reading this one and I like that. This isn't a good place to start if you're trying to get some light reading or get into romance but an overall fun little read.
