Review: I loved this book and Schwarz's style of writing. It has an easy-to-read flow to it that was hard to put down. I really felt I knew the characters and loved the way the book switched point of view from one person to another. I recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a great read.

Summary: Mystifying from beginning to end!
Review: This is a compelling book. One can tell that the author spent years putting this plot together and making it absolutely work. Like others, I too could not put the book down once I started. It grabs you with such intensity, that you crave for more at the turn of each page. I absolutely loved how Christina set the tone of this novel. Everything was explained with such intensity and descriptive points of view throughout the entire book. I actually felt as though I was right there with the characters watching the story unfold.
I hope this book gets made into a movie. The script of coarse will change some, however it's Oscar time for "Drowning Ruth".

Summary: i thought it would be better..
Review: i picked this book up in the library after reading good reviews on it from here. maybe its just me, but this book didn't live up to all the hype it got from some other reviewers. sure the beginning was good and interesting but after a while it just got plain boring. i had to force myself to read the rest of it and that rarely ever happens to me. i kept hoping the book would get better but it sadly didn't. the book was just lacking something. i was glad when i finally got done with the book and was able to read a better, more interesting one. i usually like most books i read, and this book was okay, but i wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Review: The title is very symbolic. It does not only refer to the physical drowning as experienced by some of the characters, but also to the suffocating love & possesiveness of Ruth's aunt towards her. It also stands for Amanda's drowning in her own secrets & personal internal turmoils - a choice she made to protect herself instead of telling the truth. It also refers to Carl's frantic search for truth like a drowning man clawing for support & life. In the midst of these all, we see Ruth desperately wanting to be free but finding herself clutching to the one thing that actually holds her back.

Review: Hmmmm, it's surprising to me to read all the other glowing reviews about this book. I'll admit, it catches your attention at the beginning, and keeps you guessing, but the guessing game becomes the central problem with this book, it just goes on and on, and when you finally arrive at the conclusion, you are not at all shocked. The way the author flips back and forth between characters and time frames is at best annoying. Spend your time reading something more fulfilling and exciting and less nerve racking.
