Rating: Summary: Talk Radio Comes to Life Review: Atlanta Live is a popular talk radio show hosted by friends Jasmine, Evelyn, and Malone. All is well with the show, their friendship and their lives until one life-altering phone call changes everything.Jasmine, the host of the show, grew up in poverty and vowed to never go back. She is overly ambitious and has an obsession with acquiring material wealth. After being insensitive and uncompassionate with a suicidal caller, Jasmine finds her job is on the line. She seeks solace in an unlikely place and discovers everything that she has worked hard for- her job, her friendships, and even her life are in jeopardy. Evelyn grew up in a home lacking love. Her father was a prominent pastor with many skeletons in his closet. When Evelyn mistakenly leaked out some of the family secrets, her parents shut her out. Evelyn now finds herself engaged to a preacher more so to please her parents than because she is in love. The suicidal caller takes Evelyn back in time to her past and haunts her with secrets that she had tucked in the corner of her mind. Malone is an ex-football player, trying to make a comeback. He is also fighting to gain custody of his son from his crazy, estranged wife. His handling of the call places him back in the spotlight and gives him another chance at his dream of playing football again. In Atlanta Live, Carmen Green allows the reader to explore the world of talk radio. The book is well written and has a nice flow. It is an enjoyable, quick read that I highly recommend. I look forward to more works from Ms. Green in the future and would love to see sequel to this novel. Reviewed by Latoya Carter-Qawiyy The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers

Rating: Summary: Bravo Carmen!! Review: Evelyn, Jasmine and Malone have been together for sometime trying to make a name for themselves in Talk Radio. Atlanta Live was the show born to them. Each host has their own view of the issues discussed. Things had been going very well for them until one fateful day when a caller tried to harm herself during a conversation with the trio. Jasmine, Dr. Jasmine as she likes to be called is the sassy, arrogant and sometimes two faced individual that pushed the callers to the limit and on that day one too far. Jasmine didn't look through life through rose colored glasses, but from a I take what I think is mine no matter what the consequences. Evelyn on the other hand looked at life from a victims point of view. She had made mistakes in the past, but never thought they would come back and her hurt as well as heal her. Her preacher father and mother were self-rightous folks that in my eye sight let her down as parents. Malone completed this trio. Men loved to hear his take on subjects and the women liked him because his voice was sexy. An ex-football player, the thorn in his side was the ex-wife from hell. He wanted to be a good parent, but the ex always had a road block in his way when it came to his son. The incident changed all their lives forever. Carmen Green is known for her witty characters and her humor as a romance author. She always makes you laugh and the next moment your heart bleeds for the character. She did an excellent job writing Atlanta Live her mainstream offering. A look in and behind the scenes of radio shows everywhere. The only thing I wonder is what happened to Jasmine after she tried to redeem herself? Great job Carmen.

Rating: Summary: I felt something was missing Review: I liked Atlanta Live but felt something was missing. It was a fast paced book however you never quite got the background motivation for Jasmine, Malone and Evelyn. The "why" was not answered for some of the behavior displayed from this fun group. The minor players were not brought out enough ( Evelyn's parents, Carvel, Jasmine's family or Malone's son and ex.wife ). I feel this book is a great choice for a fast read and it would be a nice addition to any book dicussion group. If you love African-American fiction this book will be a treat.
Rating: Summary: At What Cost? Review: In Atlanta Live, author Carmen Green takes a break from her romance writing to bring the reader into the word of talk radio and the lives of the hosts Dr. Jasmine, Malone and Evelyn. Dr. Jasmine is harsh, sarcastic and sometimes brutally blunt to the callers. Evelyn is more patient and caring to the callers and Malone is the balance between the two women and has the "back" of all the men. One morning the trio receives a disturbing phone call from Lindsay, a distraught teenager. Her subsequent action causes controversy at the station and in the lives of the characters. While the hosts appear to have it all together on the outside, a glimpse inside their lives tells a different story. Unhappiness, insecurity, baby mama drama, unfulfilled dreams and poor decisions are prevalent in their lives. They try to stick together to see each other through the bad times but one of them is unable to take a back seat and sets out to destroy the others for their own gain. But what is done in the dark always seems to come back and haunt you in the light. Or when you mean to do harm to someone, good things happen instead. The author did a good job of writing characters that you will sympathize with, love and love to hate. Much research is done in the realm of talk radio to bring authenticity to the story. This book was a quick and easy read. Just wondering what was going to happen next will keep you turning the pages until the very end. Had it not been for other obligations I would have read and finished this book in one sitting. Jeanette APOOO BookClub

Rating: Summary: Great book (4 1/2 stars) Review: The book was entertaining and a quick read, although I was a little confused because the book seemed more about Evelyn and less about everyone else. Jasmine and Malone were discussed, but Evelyn was the star of the book. The original caller was never discussed again. But Malone's character was the most satisfying. I'd read it again and definitely worth buying.

Rating: Summary: Tom, Sybil, Jay better watch out............... Review: To begin I have a hard time rating this book I give it more like 3 1/2 stars... I will explain the rating at the end of the review. Atlanta Live is a radio talk show. Dr Jasmine, Evelyn and Malone are the commentators. They are not just co-workers, they are friends from way back. Dr. Jasmine is the hard rock, pushed you to the limit and reel you back in personality, gives advice for troubles, but off the show she is falling into darkness because of her extravagant, don't want to go back to where I come from lifestyle. Evelyn is sweet, concerned, caring wish my family could just love me, I am here for you, Christian personality, problem is she is in love with the holier than thou preacher man. Evelyn needs to learn to love herself and stand up and be a WOMAN! Malone is the buff ex jock who is dreaming of a comeback, with the crazy ex wife. Their lives all come to a dramatic jolt when they receive a call from a young woman and Dr J pushes the limits on this call. Jasmine finds her world spinning out of control and she has put herself in a very destructive lifestyle. Malone finds that troubles don't last always, but deceit and heartaches and thinning pockets, he must endure first. Evelyn is betrayed and her secret from her past comes out, and it sets her into a world of despair, but a jolt of reality that you cannot hide, removes the blinders from her eyes and she finds that Love was right in front of her all along. This trio endures more havoac and jealousy, outrage, and the pages turn on their own. I thought this book was glued to my hands. At the same time I couldn't put it down but I also feel like something was missing and that is why I have rated it 3 1/2 stars... Carmen Green is my home girl and a great writer, but I wanted more with Jasmine, not enough background and explanation behind her behavior or the events in her life. I can see a sequel to this book, because Jasmine is a story all alone and her character did not prevail from the obstacles. Also, Carvel I understood he was a preacher, but what is up with this brother? Did he only want Evelyn because of her parents wealth and respect, because I kept thinking that maybe he was tipping out with a church member. How are you going to be a man of God, and still carry judgement on someone you claim to love? Just wanted more. Carmen bring us Jasmines story "Pu.....leeeeeeeezee!!!!
