Rating: Summary: An okay read - nothing special Review: I'm sorry to disagree with the other two reviewers, but I really didn't find Robin Lee Hatcher's latest book to be that great. It did hold my interest enough for me to finish it in a couple of days, but I guess I was expecting more. The author uses the technique of interspersing present-time segments (very brief - usually only a page or so) with longer sections that were being told to Julianna by Miriam's old boyfriend from her early years. The sections each come out of an object taken out of a box of memories. I would've liked to have seen more development of the present-day character, Julianna. The story would've been much more compelling if we knew more about her life, and how it was being influenced by what she was hearing about Miriam's life. And I thought that the end was just a bit too predictable and a bit too tidy. At the end of the book, there is the Prologue and the first chapter of the book that Mrs. Hatcher is writing which will be published during Summer 2002. I love to read, and I read mostly non-fiction - I'm careful how I "spend" my reading minutes. In Christian fiction, I'm looking for something a bit deeper than just a nice story. I'm not saying that this book is shallow, but maybe I'm pickier than the typical Christian fiction reader. You might be interested in my reviews of other Christian books and music!
Rating: Summary: Just finished Review: reading Ribbon of Years and thoroughly enjoyed it. As a writer myself, I admire how Robin Lee Hatcher's writing seems effortless. The story tells itself without the reader constantly being reminded of the writer behind the words. I have read the works of more recognizable names and constantly felt their presence (or intrusion) into the story. I have only read a few of Robin's titles, but she has gone to the top of my favorite author list. Her inspirational segments in the story are well-placed and thought provoking. By reading her works, I have learned more about the art of writing than many of the non-fiction books on the craft on the market today.

Rating: Summary: Ah, to leave such a legacy Review: This book made me cry, and I am not a weeper. I think Robin's portrayal of one woman's legacy in a small town is incredible. It forces you to think about your own mortality and what will be said about you. The characterization is awesome, and I think she's hit a new plateau in inspirational fiction. Rating: Summary: Leaves you wanting something in your life..... Review: This is one of those books that after reading it you wish for what the main character has. No, not all the trials and tribulations she must go through but the peace that she has with her through them. Robin has written a remarkable book that will keep you flipping the pages to the very end, you will not want to put this book down to sleep. You will need to make sure you have the time to sit back with a cup of tea and relax with this book.
