Rating: Summary: I loved it!!! Review: Kudos Sheneska!!! This book is a very good read. I read it in two days. Even though these women had many problems it seems as if I could relate to each woman in a different way. All I can say is Zuma, Zuma, Zuma... if we could all have her self-control we could all be millionaires!!!While I agree with the others who said the adoption was a little bit unbelieveable it is the actions that occur after it that made the book worth reading. Even though I feel the ending was a bit rushed (all problems were pretty much solved in the last 2 chapters...Yeah right!!), I still found the book to be very enjoyable. I couldn't put it down!!!
Rating: Summary: Good things come to those who wait!! Review: I truly enjoyed reading this book. The author did a great job with keeping the characters diverse and telling their own life stories. The good and the bad. Watching the sisterhood develop in Blessings was a blessing to read. Great Job, Ms. Jackson
Rating: Summary: ENJOYABLE READ Review: SHENESKA HAS DONE A GREAT JOB BRINGING THE LIVES OF THESE FOUR WOMEN TO THE PAGE. THE CHARACTERS ARE TRULY BELIEVABLE. THE READER IS TRULY ABLE TO INDENTIFY WITH ALL FOUR WOMEN. I FOUND IT AN ENJOYABLE. I DIDN'T FIND IT PREACHY AT ALL. IT IS A KNOWN FACT THAT IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY WE ALL PREACH AT EACH OTHER. IT IS OUR WAY OF SHOWING THAT WE CARE AND OUR CONCERN. THIS BOOK GAVE ME NEW INSIGHTS ON PARENTING AND THAT CHILDREN ARE TRULY A BLESSING FROM GOD
Rating: Summary: fast-paced with a few "lulls" in the story line Review: The author intertwines very nicely each characters' past life with their present situations. However, the author's physical description of the characters may not match what the reader imagines them to be. Parts of the ending are predictable, and the adoption situation is really not believable at all, but it is still worth reading for entertainment.
Rating: Summary: Defines the meaning of blessings for all Females Review: Jackson, Offered a inspiring view of the lives of four women. The way the beauty shop offers a social comfort to women is seen throughout their relationships. She wanted women to sit back and see how truly blessed they are whether they have a good man like Mark or able to have kids like Faye. I see how truly blessed I am...PEACE
Rating: Summary: YOU GO GIRL!!!! Review: This book was da-bomb!!! I have read all of Ms. Jackson's books and this was the best yet. Her other two novels were great as well, but this one just kept me turning the pages. I'm waiting for the next one to come out. Much love and peace to Sheneska Jackson.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous!! Review: I think Ms. Jacksons use of how children can affect womens lives is remarkable. I have friends that could easily fall into each character and her thought process, actually for that matter I can totally identify with one of the characters myself. This was the first novel that I have read by Ms. Jackson, needless to say it won't be the last. My hat goes off to Ms. Jackson for this great novel. It is a compliment to all women. The book was truly a "Blessing" for me.
Rating: Summary: Really down to earth and emotionally challenging. Review: The 3 main characters in this novel made you feel as if you knew each one. Ms. Jackson has a unique talent of getting you caught up in her novels. I have also read Lil Mama's Rules and thoroughly enjoyed it as well. I am a devoted fan of Ms. Jackson and will read each and every one of her books. She really makes her characters personal. You have a fan for life. I am now going to order Caught up in the Rapture, I guess I'm kind of reading in reverse order. I anxiously await your next great book. Keep up the great writing. essie@ix.netcom.com
Rating: Summary: Entertaining. Review: I found "Blessings" to be an entertaining and easily digestable novel. The author was able to maintain my attention throughout the book. The characters were believable, interesting and unpredictable. I was particularly entertained by her use of language and inner dialogue. My main criticisms are that Ms. Jackson used more profanity than seemed necessary thoughout the novel, which tends to be the case with the crop of current Black authors -- the forerunner being Terry McMillan. The end of the novel also seemed a bit rushed. I was particularly disappointed in her handling of the adoption situation, which I found a bit unbelievable, though not predictable. ..
Rating: Summary: GREAT Review: This was a one of the best book that I read all year. I love the mix of characters. The fact that not all your characters were black was change coming from a black writer. This book made me laugh and cry. I really connected with something different with each of the women in the book.
