Rating: Summary: this book touched me in every way possible Review: I love the felling Sheneska puts into to every line she writes. I become those characters. I feel their joy and pain. I hope she NEVER stops writing!
Rating: Summary: It's the real deal. Review: I enjoyed this book very much. It was on the money talking about beauty salons. I loved this book and would recommend it as a must read for every sister. If Shaneska's other books are as good as this one, then I'm on my way to the bookstore to buy every book she wrote. The sister definitely has FLAVOR.
Rating: Summary: Difficult to read but otherwise enjoyable. Review: Though I have enjoyed all of Ms. Jackson's book I found this one particularly hard to read. I found I had to skip through the parts with Sandy and her kids. The abuse and neglect I just couldn't stomach. But I did enjoy the other characters, especially Pat.
Rating: Summary: A must read!!! Review: This book shows the true meaning of friendship. I really enjoyed the characters Sheneska created. They were real and were the type of people you come across everyday. I have read her other book "Li'l Mama Rules" and also enjoyed that one.My next book of choice is "Caught up in the rapture." You go girl, with your bad self.
Rating: Summary: Right on the money Review: This book was too good to put down. You get so involved with the characters and their lives. I actually was pulling for each character, hoping that everything turned out right for them. Sheneska Jackson was right on the money with this book. I would recommend this book to everyone.
Rating: Summary: Too good to put down!! Review: Last September, I joined a bookclub and this was the book of the month. I was a little short on cash so I had to check it out of the library. From the night I brought it home, I was hooked. I was reading it at home and at work! I have not read Ms. Jackson's other two novels, but Blessings kept my interest and allowed if only for a little while to escape from my own crazy world! Even though it's been a year since I read it and the book has long since returned to the library, I have been anxiously awaiting the paperback edition so I can add this wonderful book to my shelf.
Rating: Summary: Something to Read Review: Blessings was a very hard read. It took me two weeks to get through this book and that was very unusual for me. The story was very good but, I felt that the ending did not completely depict all four ladies. It is a good book to read if you just enjoying reading African American novels, like I do.
Rating: Summary: Not bad! Review: I pretty much enjoyed this story. Ms Jackson is a good storyteller. I am a voracious reader and read many different genres of fiction as well as non-fiction. When you want to curl up with a story that takes you away from it all, Ms. Jackson is a good choice. In each of her characters, I can always identify with some part of their life and their relationships with men.
Rating: Summary: Caught up in the Rapture and 'Lil Mama's Rules were so Review: much better!!!! I loved "Rules" and "Caught Up" but Blessings just didn't do it for me like the other books did. Zuma's part in the story really didn't have an ending in my opinion. And Sandy should have been held accountable in some way shape or form for her actions.............
Rating: Summary: I wouldn't have expected anything less!!! Review: Ms Jackson has done it again. Blessings is a book every woman should read. Even though children are far down the line for me reading this book gave me insight on how I should raise my children. It showed me the other side...women who don't want children. Ms Jackson really brought this book to life with the different tales of long days at the beauty shop.I think that this book is definitely one I will read over and over.
