Rating: Summary: Sunday Brunch by Norma Jarrett Review: Sunday Brunch was an enjoyable novel to read. Norma Jarrett wrote with clarity and much spiritual quotes which I truly appreciated. I could relate to some of the experiences which transpired in this novel to make me have a reality check. Ms. Jarrett is a newcomer, but has talent and will exceed. I attended a booksigning and she was able to speak about her book. With her enthusiasm and giving excerpts of her book I was totally impressed. I wish Ms. Jarrett much success in all her endeavors.
Rating: Summary: Good Read Review: The book appeal to all types of women, whether they are black, white, hispanic, mexican. The book touch on issues each woman faced and how they overcamed those issues, by confronting their fears and hang-ups. I think the book was well written and I love the prayers that the author allowed Lexi to pray throughout the book.
Rating: Summary: Sunday Brunch Review: The book was excellent! It was so real and down to earth. It dipicted real challenges that we as christians face in living a christian life, wittnessing, and looking for a mate or waiting for God to send us one. It tapped into every emotion as I read the book. I laughed, cried, smiled, screamed and prayed. At one point I found myself throwing down the book and falling to my knees. No other book has brought me to that point. I am so thankful that Norma Jarrett wrote this book. The struggles that the women in the book faced really hit home.
Rating: Summary: A Must Read Review: This novel has touched me in so many ways. I have recently dedicated my life to Christ and have been trying to change some things in my life. I love to read, but I must say I've gotten tired of reading books by African American authors that consist of endless chapters of unrealistic relationships alternating between fights and makeup sex. I was looking for so much more than that and I found it in Sunday Brunch. I was able to relate to the book on so many different levels and I appreciate the realism. I am already looking forward to reading more books by Norma Jarrett.
Rating: Summary: GOOD FOR THE SOUL & READING GROUP Review: This novel was wonderful. It was just like the review said, "Waiting to Exhale meets Church Folk". Each female character reminds me of someone that I know personally. In the beginning I was a little confused as to who "I" was, but soon realized the narrator is Lexi. This is a wonderfual tale consisting of 5 very good girlfirends who are all attorneys by trade, going through life with problems involving their careers, marriage, health, and men. They all attend church every Sunday (except for one) and later meet for brunch. Ms Jarrett's writing style made me feel as though I was at brunch with the ladies. I'm sure you won't be able to put this book down.
Rating: Summary: Sunday Brunch Review Review: This was a delightful book. I recognized many of the characters in the book in my own life. I commend the author for writing a christian fiction book. This book was not as I expected. I was prepared to read a book with a lot of scriptures with little substance. However, after reading this book, I found there was a lot of substance as well as scripture which I know has already changed my life. The author slipped in scriptures during normal everyday conversations which has made me realized, I can become a more effective witness for Jesus Christ in my own life. The relationships were normal and the love scenes great. This is a very well-written book and a must read for all Christians.
Rating: Summary: A FEEL GOOD GIRLFRIEND'S BOOK Review: This was a great read. The writing flowed very smoohtly. I esp enjoyed the way the characters were decribed in great detail. Each and every one of us has a girlfriend that fits at least two of the ladies. I finnished this book in two days, (whew!!)But I could not put it down once I got toward the end. I also enjoyed the setting and familiar names and places mention in the book being a Houston native. I would highly recommed this book. Our book club will be selecting this as a book of the month in the very near future.
Rating: Summary: Praises For Sunday Brunch Review: This was a wonderful novel that showed the problems and iniquities that women face everyday. I appreciated the fact that these were real characters we all know: sophisticated, career-minded, materialistic(Jewel), dedicated, spiritual, self-absorbed, yet all were real. This story displayed crisis, conflict and tension that all 'girls' go through, but the most wonderful thing about SB is that it had a spiritual message weaved throughout the story!Readers will love and identify with all the characters as well as the storyline. Everyday we are faced with the ways of the world and as the central character proves over and over again,by praying for and with her friends, we can survive the worst that life has to offer if we just lift our hearts in prayer. If you don't do anything else read this book for it's spiritual foundation and to find out about banana pudding!(ha-ha) I thoroughly enjoyed Ms. Jarrett's novel and would recommend that men and women read it. Without giving away the end I'll just say it was refreshing to have an author reaffirm the fact that it is possible to have Happily Ever After novels. Bravo! Ms. Jarrett and I hope that you are already working on your second spirtual based novel.
