Rating: Summary: Escaping the Twilight Review: A fascinating tale that rings of authenticity, relevance, and urgency. This is fiction based on real life cruelty, ignorance, and tradition. I was hooked from the first sentence even though I am a male septuagenarian.

Rating: Summary: Can't put this book down! Review: Gripping tale of an amazingly brave and spirited woman living in a culture of unbelievable oppression and cruelty simply because she was born female. Sigrid brings you into her world with great detail. It is a rare glimpse into a mysterious culture few of us can even imagine. You feel the characters frustration and pain and hope with great clarity. I cheered for her and cried with her! Sigrid has a wonderful writing style that keeps you on the edge of your seat wanting more. Literally, I fell asleep at night with this book still in my hands.

Rating: Summary: Thought provoking, A must read for Men and Women Review: Highly recommend this book! The author writes a heart wrenching story that keeps you in suspense until the end. Her careful portrayal of a delicate subject is a must read to understand the horrors women of other cultures must endure. The author has clearly carefully researched her material and has a writing style that is enjoyable to read. Her written word brings to life the characters and story as it unfolds. Sadly the practice she writes about is not in the past but continues today in cultures around the world. While fiction, the role of the female and the practice of female circumsision within other countries needs to be exposed as abominable and horrific mutilation. After reading this book, I am humbled to realize how fortunate I am to have been born into a country that values women, their intact body, and their rights to pursue a life they choose. With the current events in the world, this book has come of age and is a must read!!

Rating: Summary: More than I expected Review: I read this book because my girlfriend praised it and wanted to discuss it. (I thought "Oh boy, feminist literature !!!".(I'm a Fitzgerald/Salinger/Hemingway enthusiast) I was happily surprised and relieved to find it a novel in the style of the classics. The story moves well, and the characters are compelling. This novel is a must read for academics in the fields of Sociology, Political Science, Religious Study, Anthropology, etc... It is a surprising expose' on Muslim traditions in many 3rd and even 2nd world regions !!! Quite timely and eye opening, with a triumphant resolution. I rated it a 5.

Rating: Summary: Excellent insight into the life of Muslim women Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters are well defined, the story well written, and there is an educational side to this historical fiction. It is a lesson in the hard, cruel, and nearly hopeless life of women in the muslim faith. Though this story tears at your heart, it has a gripping plot that makes it difficult to put down. And this woman achieves a victory not available to most Muslim women.
