Summary: Refreshing and Delightful Read!
Review: A light and relaxing read, this powerful work steadily hums with the regenerative force of forgiveness and the staying power of human love. I found the characters to be mischievous, endearing, and delightfully believable. Thank you, D.L. Smith, for getting your art to press!

Summary: You can only say this once and mean it...
Review: Having read all of the glowing reviews here at Amazon, I had to give this book a try. Could it really be as good as everyone seems to think? Turns out that most of the reviews fell short, as will mine. Quite simply, this is the best book that I have ever read.

The setting descriptions are magnificantly simple and appealing. The characterizations go far beyond depth; they issue personalities. And its continually evolving plot has superb flow.

It's as poignant as To Kill a Mockingbird, yet at times as laugh-out-loud funny as P.G. Wodehouse's best. In fact, the book's characters and their interplay is very much akin to Wodehouse, though not quite as heavy-handed.

I cannot recommend The Miracles of Santo Fico highly enough. You will enjoy reading it & then you'll enjoy sharing it with someone you care about.

Summary: A warm sunny book for a warm sunny place.
Review: I finished this novel 3 days ago and still cannot decide precisely what I think of it. On one hand, I despair of the author's somewhat stilted writing voice, and other editing errors. On the other hand, I find I truly like his characters and this odd little interlude in their lives. And of course, Tuscany itself is almost a character! I would overall call this an excellent book to take along on Spring Break--not quite as banal as a "beach read" but not Dostoevski either. This one you can enjoy with a Margarita and not lose your place.

Summary: sheer delight; what went on in a small italian town
Review: I loved this book. the characters were wonderful, believable
they were expressive and 3 dimensional. The capers of the protagonists were funny, and real. I read this book in 24 hours
because I could not put it down.
If you love things Italian, you will love this book.
The author described very well the goings on of a small italian town. I didn't want it to end, I wanted to go on and on with
the characters. The ending was excellent. Didn't leave you hanging

Summary: Wonderful tale, wonderful people, great fun
Review: I promise you this book will entertain. It starts rather unassuming, but the further you go, the more you want to read.
Well made and colorful characters interact together, and are true to themselves. I was so disappointed when the book was done.
I was quite enjoying living in their world for the time I was
reading the book.
For sheer pleasure, I recommend this book to all

Summary: Love, Betrayal and Dark Secrets. What More Could You Want?
Review: In "The Miracles of Santo Fico," D.L. Smith introduces readers to a quaint little Italian villa. Santo Fico used to attract many visitors who would come to witness a miracle for themselves. But nowadays the only visitors are those who stumble into town by accident. It has since become run down, holding only memories of what used to be.

After twenty years, Leo Pizzola has returned to Santo Fico from America in search of a way to get rich quick. No one seems to be happy to see him, except his long time friend Topo.

Everyone in Santo Fico has deep hidden secrets. Marta is a woman who has lost her faith in love. Her daughter, Carmen, is rebelling against her mother while Marta's other daughter, Nina, drifts gracefully through life blind.

Father Elio is haunted by his past and has lost his faith in the church. Leo has lost his faith in Santo Fico.

When a devastating earthquake turns the town upside down, Leo and Topo embark on a plan to create their own 'miracle' to try and restore the faith in themselves and all the townspeople of Santo Fico once again.

Regret and forgiveness play major parts throughout this novel. Long-kept secrets come to surface and changes begin to take place, perhaps even the biggest miracle anyone could ever expect.

"The Miracles of Santo Fico" is a whimsical and wholesome tale told from the point of view of many narrators.

Summary: This is a great book
Review: It takes its place among the handful of books I treasure. I can see this being converted into a screenplay and hope the director can capture the heart of its characters. Highly recommended.
