Summary: Stella is poorly written and even more poorly spoken.
Review: In the audio version of How Stella Got Her Groove Back, the author took the time to perform the reading of the book herself. She shouldn't have bothered. She could have spent her time more constructively by putting more effort into the writing of the book. I couldn't listen to 15 minutes before turning off the tape. Ms. McMillan seems to stumble through words she, herself had written making it hard to focus on the story she is trying to tell. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and tried to read the written version. Unfortunately, the story was disappointing and the author appears to have rushed through the writing. Terry, next time spend the time on the writing and let the professionals do the reading.

Summary: When does the next flight to Jamaica leave?
Review: It took me a few days to get into this book, but once I did, I couldn't believe I was finished with it. It wasn't as good as her previous three books, but we all slip now and then. The one thought that stayed on my mind once I got into the book was, "I want a Winston just like Stella's (and not the cigarette).

Summary: YOU GO GIRL!!
Review: Once I got past the way the book was written (no punctuation), I really enjoyed. AGE AIN'T NUTHIN' BUT A NUMBER!! If a sistah can find love more than once in this lifetime, I say go for it (as long as he is over 21). Stella is my hero!! I have read all of Terry's books and enjoyed each one (Disappearing Acts is my favorite).

Summary: A good read
Review: As a white, middle-class, middle-aged man, I love to be thrown into worlds I do not know. Terry McMillan can do this. And she does it in a narrative style that is appealing. I traveled with Stella back and forth to Jamaica and I could not wait to see how her relationship would turn out. Worth reading.

Summary: Another "Terry Mcmillanish" novel
Review: I think that Terry Mcmillan needs to start thinking beyond sex and materialism and start thinking about real life issues. I find her to be one of the most overrated, shallow-minded African American authors of the decade. McMillan makes 'Stella' and 'Exhale's main characters seem like sex-starved, middle-aged, middle-class, nymphos. I have read all of your novels and frankly Terry, I know you can do better than this for six million dollars(your publisher should have pressed for more quality instead of quantity). I agree with the previous reader who said that anybody with as much time on their hands as Terry does could've written this novel. Success has spoiled ol'girl no doubt. As a matter of fact, Ms. Mcmillan herself admits that this particular novel was rushed bragging that it only took her a month and a half to write it...

Summary: EXCELLENT BOOK
Review: I TRUELY ENJOYED THE BOOK HOW STELLA GOT HER GROOVE BACK. I ALSO ENJOY BOOKS THAT TERRY McMILLIAN WRITES SHE IS A VERY TALENTED WRITER. THE BOOK HAD ME LAUGHING AND CRYING TEARS OF JOY AND TEARS OF SADNESS. I CAN TRUELY RELATE TO THIS BOOK. I DIDNOT WANT TO PUT THE BOOK DOWN. I READ THIS BOOK IN TWO DAYS. I RATE THIS BOOK THE BEST WRITTEN BOOK. AND IF THIS WAS REAL LIFE MORE PEOPLE SHOULD BE OPEN ABOUT AGE DIFFERENCE RELATIONSHIPS. EXCELLENT BOOK. TERRY DO YOUR THANG GIRL YOU ARE THE BEST. LIFETIME FAN FREDERICKA J.

Summary: Dissappearing Acts Was Terry's Best Yet!
Review: Stella was pretty good once you got into it. It dragged for a while in the begining. I just hope the movie is better than the book. Usually it is the other way around. I believe Terry will take time on her next book and do a better job, like she has done in the past.

Summary: Do you want any pina colada?
Review: When I was reading this book, I smelled the Jamaican air, I tasted the pina colada and I heard the waves rolling! After I've finished the book I was on the edge of booking a trip to Jamaica!

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Silly, pointless, cotton-candy for the "mind".
Review: This isn't writing. It's typing. Anybody who can find "meaning" in any of the lightweight twaddle churned out by Terry McMillan is as hopelessly superficial as she is. I have never been tempted to open a McMillan book after I've finished it. In fact, I've forgotten it by the next day. McMillan is good at what she does: producing pulp, mass-market pablum for the lowest common denominator

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: I thought McMillan's book was a fresh break from before.
Review: I thought the book started off slow, but once I got into the book I could not put it down. This book is different from Terry's previous novels. I think that's why I loved it. I also thought Stella wanted what all women wanted: the whole package, family, career, health, but most of all love
