Summary: Book 3 of a wonderful, heartwarming series
Review: I have zoomed through the first 4 Mitford books and am now midway through the 5th. The characters grab you and transport you to a town where I think, deep down, we would all like to call home. Father Tim is a "real" person with very human characteristics. Yet his basic goodness will restore your faith in humanity. The theology is not shoved down your throat, but rather is grasped between the lines. All the characters are memorable. Cynthia and Dooley in particular help shape the wonderful story line. The huge dog, Barnabus, who is disciplined only by hearing Bible verse, worms his way into your heart. I am so glad I discovered this series, and I recommend it to absolutely anyone!

Summary: Jan Karon is batting "1000"
Review: I have just finished "Out to Canaan" and went directly to "A New Song". These stories are so good, I don't know if I can wait for #6! The stories are entertaining, compassionate, and can make you laugh out loud, and then cry. The reader feels like they personally know the townspeople of Mitford by the fourth book and genuinely cares about what happens to them. Jan Karon has alot of talent and I hope the series continues for a long, long, time. If Mitford were a real town, it's population would soon be expanding, as most readers would love to live there.

Summary: Wonderful Life Story
Review: I love everything about this series. I could read about Father Tim forever. The author has a wonderful way of bringing everyone in these stories to life. I also see the great testimony of faith put into words by Father Tim's life. The author must have such a faith as this to be able to write it in such detail and feeling. Again, this book and the preceding books are wonderful!

Summary: More peace from the Karon series
Review: As with the previous 3 Jan Karon books in the Mitford series the most comprehensive comment I can make about this book is that is brings great peace. The subject, people, and story are as lilting as the language. The book glows. This books just continues one of the most amazing series of books I have ever read. The spirituality present is not overwhelming but greatly comforting.

Summary: A promised land of storytelling
Review: I enjoyed this one the best of all, over the past three books the development of the characters has evolved, not only in the authors writing but in my mind as well. It is a pleasure to pick up this book and feel, on the very first page, at home. I am just starting the new one and am a little bit melancholy realizing we may have to wait a while for a new one. Anyone who wants to read a great wholesome, very spiritual book will want to read this one. I cried at the end...so, my hat is off to Jan Karon. Keep it up...

Summary: Great Family Entertainment
Review: This book is truly a piece of heaven along with the first 3 in this series. Good, clean family fun with a pinch of spirituality. These are the books we should encourage our children to read and we ourselves should be reading. The characters are real and believable. You fall in love with them as you enter their lives through the printed word. You also learn the right and the wrong way to do things. Also, the best ways to choose between the two. At home during family reading time is a great place for these books. Thank you Jan Karen. You have truly enriched my life and I will do everything I can the pass this on to my children and all of my friends. Madonna Ringswald of LaGrange, Ky.

Summary: Best yet...examples of faith during the hard times!
Review: This is the best of the Mitford series. I found myself wanting a note card to capture scripture ideas to remember during my own trials and tribulations. The closing sermon still speaks to me.
