Rating: Summary: I Love the Chandler Brothers Review: The Heartbreaker sounded like a good read so I decided to start at the beginning of Carly Phillips Trilogy which starts with The Bachelor and then The Playboy. I love the way she dedicated a book to each one of the brothers. I really loved reading each book and would recommend that you start with The Bachelor. I couldn't put the books down. Enjoy!!
Rating: Summary: Not a bad light read! 3.75 stars ! Review: The latest in the brother series by Carley Phillips is again a fun read. She creates a great strong woman character for Chase, which he would need to stay interested in someone.Sloane is dealt a horrible blow when she overhears that she might not be the person she thinks she is and have another father out in the wings. This shakes her and off she heads to find out the truth. But, there are those that want to stop her. This story is more of a romantic suspense book that a traditional romance which is a good thing in my opinion. It allows you to take part in the story and root for different characters. If you are looking for a rather quick read this is a good story for you to enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Fun reading! Review: The third in her series was a fun read. I fell in love with the men in these books! I would recommend all three.
Rating: Summary: A MUST HAVE Review: This book is a definate must have if you have already read The Bachelor and The Playboy by Carly Phillips. This is the third book in the series and although it is predictable with what has happended to the Chandler Boys, it still has some twists and turns. I didnt think the book was supposed to come out until November, so I was very excited to find out that it was already out. I read it in one night. I couldnt put the book down, I had no choice..lol. I love books by Elizabeth Lowell, and have read almost all of hers when my aunt introduced me to Carly Phillips. Her books are simple but keep you reading! Im only sad that the story of the Chandler Brothers had to come to an end! All three of her books about the Chandler Brothers and their little home town of Yorkshire Falls is a A+!!!
Rating: Summary: Fun, Light and Intriguing!!! Review: This is a fun, light and intriguing story.
A young woman, daughter of a future Presidential candidate, overhears a conversation that involves her background and her birth. She is fraught with emotion and takes off to discover what the facts are. She becomes involved with a young man who has decided that it is time for him to live his own life and to stop being a "caretaker" for others.
As it turns out, the young man is also an independent journalist who has taken on the job of keeping an eye on someone as a personal favor.......he has no idea that it is the young woman he has just met at a bar the week before.
What follows is an unexpected dangerous search, leading to near tragedy and throwing these two people into a whirlwind of danger and deception.......and pushing them closer and closer to each other.
Rating: Summary: Standard romance Review: This is my third book to read of Carly Phillips and will be my last. The books that I have read are awful. Because of the ratings, at first I thought it was just I, but it's not. Everyone is beautiful and shallow, which is your typical, standard, safe romance novel. I doubt that this author will ever write beyond her safety net. Chase was okay, but the drooling over Sloan was overkill. Also, what is it with this author when comes to eyes. "His gaze keenly centered on hers, his intelligent eyes or his blue eyes met hers, deep and questioning." I didn't know they still wrote things like that. Body language, yes, but I've never understood a person or their intent by gazing into another person's eyes. Facial expression - yes, eyes - no. I wish I would have known before I bought this book that this author is geared more toward teens and young adults...
Rating: Summary: Mr. Calm & Cool looses his heart! Review: This is the last of a fun sequence of the charming Chandler Brothers. But you don't have to read the other 2 to enjoy this one. Chase Chandler is the calm and cool older brother that the family looks up to. Ever since the death of his father, Chase has taken the responsibility of his family serious- looking after his mother and 2 brothers and hasn't taken out the time for romance. Well, the brothers are now married and mom is pushing for Chase to find someone to get serious about but that just isn't in his plans... Until Sloane Carlisle comes to town. Chase has been asked to be the "protector" of a daughter of a Senator, who is running for vice-president, that is coming to town. She has just discovered a family secret and torn about it. Chase doesn't have a problem with this and even sees a story in the making - until he realizes that Sloane is the same person he had a one nighter with a while back. A rather "fast and furious" "spur of the moment" one nighter! There is plenty of romance to go along with the suspence and humor. And if you enjoy this one, you'll want to pick up the other 2 books about the Roman and Rick. They are fun, too!
Rating: Summary: A Heartbreaking Finale Review: While fans of Carly Phillips lament the sneaky move by publishers to deliver the last installment of the Chandler Brother series in hardcover, The Heartbreaker sets itself apart from many of the sizzling romance available on the shelves with heart and sensuous dialogue. Chase Chandler jumps on his chance for a big journalistic break when he is promised an interview by the wife of hotshot U.S. Senator Michael Carlisle. There is a condition attached: Chase is to protect their daughter Sloane Carlisle who ventures into Chase's hometown Yorkshire Falls in search of her real dad Samson Humphrey. Little did he know Sloane is the woman with whom he had a passionate one-night stand. Chase's protective instincts is summoned by Sloane's dangerous predicament when the senator's aide decides to silence Samson to avoid a political scandal. Complication arises when their chemistry sparks love. Chase has to decide for himself whether to give up his ambition for commitment; Sloane faces a dilemma as to whether Chase is just an errant white-knight or a lover. While the plot devices are shamelessly cliche, Ms. Phillips writes with a tender heart for her characters. Peppered with robust humor and wits from Chase's mother Raina, Kendall and Rick, the Heartbreaker is a gorgeous and gratifying conclusion to the series - so much so you can't bear to see them depart.
Rating: Summary: warm contemporary tale Review: Yorkshire Falls Gazette editor Chase Chandler travels to DC to pursue the dream he put on hold two decades ago when his dad died and his two younger brothers and mom needed him. Chase hopes his sibling can help him further his career, but is also annoyed at his brothers for not telling him that their mom faked a heart attack. NY Senator Michael Carlisle is the front runner for his party's vice presidential nomination. His oldest daughter Sloane overhears two campaign aids claim he is not her biological father as a Samson from Yorkshire Falls, NY is. They plan to eliminate Samson before he derails Michael's career. A stunned Sloane goes to a bar where she meets Chase. They hit it off and spend a delightful evening of sex, but she is gone in the morning. Sloane confronts her stepmother who tells her that Samson is her biological dad. Sloane decides to warn Samson that he is in danger from Michael's campaign team. Chase meets Madeline, who offers an exclusive interview if he will watch over Sloane. He agrees, but is shocked to learn that Sloane is the same female he shared the best sex of his life with. In Yorkshire Falls is the rest of the story. Though coincidence is over-used, this warm contemporary tale provides a fine romance that also ties up the trilogy (see THE BACHELOR and THE PLAYBOY). The story line contains two delightful lead protagonists, a bit of intrigue, and a warm secondary cast. Readers will appreciate this series but wonder why something as serious as a heart attack is misused by several of the Chandler brood. Harriet Klausner
