Summary: Too short for the money.
Review: I have read all of Jan Karon's Mitford books and have LOVED them. This one, however, was not worth the price. It was shorter than a magazine story! Please, get back to the real books!

Summary: The Mitford Snowmen
Review: I really liked this book. Unlike the other reviewers who did notlike this story, I found it to be fun. It is, to me, a story of a town just in making the snowmen they had fun doing it and forgot the everyday doldrums. We should all do something like this once in awhile to remind us that life is too short & we should go back to our childhood every once and awhile. I would recommend this book for all ages.

Summary: Marketing for the snowmen products
Review: I recently saw a line of "Mitford Snowmen" products at a Hallmark story and figured out...ah ha! so that's the purpose of this bit-o-nothing book! To market another line of products! The Mitford series has lost its appeal for me now; if only the author had as much integrity as her characters.

Summary: Disappointed in Mitford
Review: I was extremely disappointed with the length of the Snowmen story. It was so short (23 pages including pictures) that it seemed to never be more than an idea or glint in the author's eye. It was a cute idea that needed a lot more than just cute pictures to go anywhere. I think it took me 2 whole minutes to read it. All in all, I could have spent my money on a real book.

Summary: Cute but too short
Review: I would like to build a snowman right now, lack of snow though. The cost of the book though wasn't worth the small effect it had on me. Not worth it at all. I am new to Jan Karon and I just purchased some more of her books, but now I'm hoping I didn't make a mistake. Illustrations are cute and nice to look at, but the overall point to the book, way to short, I blinked my eye and was done with it.

Summary: Why the Fuss?
Review: I'm at a loss to know what it is about this simple piece of fluff that is upsetting other reviewers so much. It isn't as though it is masquerading as anything else but what it is: a Christmas Card of a short story. Nora Roberts did something similar for her readers, providing two such stories, but they were available only on her website, not as a commercial enterprise.

It doesn't bother me that this little story is a tie-in to Hallmark snowmen. I thought it was a cute idea, and could be appealing to a certain type of audience. The fact that the tie-in exists is no worse than many others on the market at this time of year, eg, stuffed bunnies as companions to "Pat the Bunny," a classic children's book.

Certainly, the story is completely harmless, albeit "quick and dirty." It has nothing offensive in it, the book is very sweet, children will love it, and Mitfordholics, I think, should take it for what it is. I don't think that Jan Karon meant this little offering to be compared with a full-blown Mitford novel. Are there other, better books in this genre? Yes, of course. Too many to name here. Does that make this particular item so horrible? I don't think so.

Summary: WAY too short!
Review: If you're a real Mitford fan, you will want to read this book. I settled down for a cozy little read, but I was disappointed that it took me less than 5 minutes to read the whole book, start to finish!

I love Jan Karon and Mitford, but this is such a tiny taste... Perhaps if you think of it as a Christmas card and not a book! Merry Christmas to all!
