Rating: Summary: So very true! Review: I received this book from a friend in London, finished it in a day, and immediately lent it to another friend! Any woman who has ever been frustrated by a job or a man will relate to this book. Each character reminded me of my circle of friends. BJ's Diary is a hysterically funny and thoroughly entertainning read -- you will laugh out loud!
Rating: Summary: Read this gem in one sitting; cigarettes 6 (v.poor) Review: I LOVED this book. For many reasons. It made me laugh out loud so many times that I felt GREAT; I found many of the things that Bridge went through in that year so like my own life lately: being single (well in my case, newly - I'd be perfect for her mother's tv spot but I dont confess to feeling suicidal thoughts); trudging off late to work almost every day as I search for tights without "ladders"; being obsessive about calorie and ciggie counting; stressing over why mr hottie at work has not answered my email of 4 mintues ago; looking for mr. right and hating every man with f#ckwittage; etc etc etc. I just loved this book and have already recommended it to all of my girlfriends. Bridget Jones, I can relate!!!
Rating: Summary: I AM BRIDGET JONES!!! Review: I loved this book because it shows me I AM NOT UNIQUE. My angst is shared -- what a relief! As a thirty-something single, I could have written each and every page (indeed, my journal probably reads a lot like this book!!) I found Bridget Jones' Diary during a trip to London -- it is all over the shelves there. Do yourself a favor and read it, particularly if you're a single woman. Just like "The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood", this is a book I am insisting my best female buddies read.
Rating: Summary: Exceptionally poignant for the 30 something career woman Review: This book hilariously exposes the foibles of the 30 something career girl, who is decidedly single, and with no prospect of marriage on the horizon, (inspite of what parents and all those "aunts and uncles" have to say on the subject.) Incredibly British style humor (I do hope that it translates to American), but as a Brit living in the States for the last 10 years, it brought home all of those high-powered career days of the '80's that weren't quite what they were cracked up to be. Parts of this book had me laughing out loud, as Bridget describes with almost excrutiating honesty, both the good and the bad about being 30 something and still single. A really entertaining read.
Rating: Summary: light, entertaining, enjoyable Review: Yes this is a light "girlie" read, yet it is witty, enjoyable and something I couldn't put down. A bit embarassing to be caught giggling as you read on public transport!! Simply a book to be enjoyed and a character that can be identified with.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious! Review: I was in tears laughing! Bridget's frantic attempt to get dressed in the morning on a work day reminded me so much of experiences I have had! I highly recommend it if you want something light and funny.
Rating: Summary: Doesn't live up to the hype Review: I know it's a diary, but still felt it was a disjointed read which I found difficult to get into. At times I could identify with the character, but mainly it was just tooooo silly. Can't imagine why everyone else thinks it's so great.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous! Review: This is one of the best and funniest books I have read! The references to life in London is fabulous.
Rating: Summary: Sorry Jane, but ... Review: No offence to the great Jane Austen, but if you loved Pride and Prejudice, you could get a kick out of BJ's Diary ... when Bridge meets her Darcy ...!!!
