Summary: I WANT MORE!!
Review: This book was absolutely hilarious. I can't wait to see the movie. Bridget's life seems to mirror my own, which was quite hilarious. I feel better knowing now that I can't be the only one that acts the way she does sometimes!! Some of it could of been from my diary!

Summary: Please be thoughtful
Review: Fielding's "Diary" needs to be considered, hilarity aside, as an acidic satire that hits its mark dead-on. It is terribly disappointing to read Amazon's own mini-review which tries to make the book appeal to the very audience that Fielding ridicules. This is not a book about weight loss, insecurity and chain-smoking -- its about how shallow and vapid our society can be at its worst. Furthermore, Amazon's review states that Bridget "gains 74 pounds" over the course of a year. This is only a cumulative total -- Bridget's weight actually only flucuates by several pounds, used to satire the thin-obsessive culture Bridget inhabits. Amazon's review is misleading in that it suggests that Bridget goes from 130 lbs up to 200 and back again. That said, the Diary is one of the funniest and sharpest pieces of writing one can read.

Summary: Hail Bridget!
Review: This is the funniest, most entertaining book I have had the pleasure to read for a long time. Helen Fielding has, in my opinion hit the nail on the head concerning the day to day traumas of a single working girl in the 90's, but has gone one better; she's made it all seem easy and almost endurable! Bridget is quick witted, yet sensitive, confident yet insecure and she's totally likable. I wouldn't mind being a bit more like her myself! A must read for self-respecting females everywhere!

Summary: Who's been reading my journal?
Review: Somewhat frightening but dreadfully funny in its dead on parallelism to my own life and those of my other Singleton friends. It's captures the two cultures of Singletons and Smug Marrieds, between which, after 30, relations can become rather guarded. Thank 1471 it's okay to laugh at it all rather than running toward the nearest Prozac distributor or giving up your Alsatian to the SPCA for adoption (just in case). I particulary loved the part when meeting Mr. Darcy, Bridget and he could maybe find common ground in the humiliation of spending holiday evenings alone in a single bed at their respective parents'. In true to life, not settling for a geek Singleton defiance, Bridget doesn't take advantage of the opening, due to his diamond pattern sweater and bumblebee socks. What would you do? Tough question. And of the single bed at one's relatives - my own experience is that it's often accompanied by wondering where my own Mr. Darcy is sleeping that night. It makes me feel better to think, maybe, just maybe, he's lying in a single bed at his parents' or sister's feeling the same way! So, what will I do if I run into a top attorney in bumblebee socks? Hmmm........

Summary: read it in one day and wanted more more more
Review: Hilarious!!!! Bridget Jones is the woman we are trying to be and not to be. She strives for perfection and falls short everytime and we love her for it. Her thoughts on life are absurd and strangely familiar...

Summary: I loved it - it's funny and real.
Review: This book is fun. Plenty reviewers here tell you what it is about so I won't repeat it. I will only add that despite the amusement there is some truth here. Many young women in their late twenties, early thirties will find they can relate to Bridget Jones and laugh at their similar dilemmas.

Summary: LOL book
Review: I read this book on a plane, and you can imagine all the puzzled looks I got because I kept on laughing out loud! This book is so funny and makes me realize that women's concerns are quite universal (I'm from Asia)

Summary: Funny, indeed, 'even men will laugh.'
Review: I had been eagerly awaiting the American release of this book, as I was already very fond of the weekly column. The book is indeed hilarious, and anyone who enjoys the columns (in the Daily Telegraph, if you're interested) will enjoy it. The problem is that it reads too much like an anthology of the columns, and ultimately feels very pointless, like watching an episode of Seinfeld. But I like Seinfeld. (and, I suppose, Ally McBeal, to whom Bridget is often compared.)

Summary: Truly captures what most women feel
Review: As an American living in London for the last 4 years, I felt I could totally associate with Bridget...she is hysterical and hits on how we all feel sometimes....and she loves to laugh at herself! I think women in any country can appreciate this book and share it with all of your friends....I have a very worn copy which has been passed around many times!

Summary: The book was absolutely hilarious.
Review: The book was one of the best books I've read all year. The main character, Bridget, is one that all females can relate to. The book was a pure delight to read. I didn't want to put it down. It was absolutely hilarious and Bridget's life and thoughts were eerily familiar. I lent the book out to all my friends and most have gone out and bought their own copy. If you are looking for an engaging book and want a good laugh, I would recommend this one.
