Rating: Summary: I AM NOT ALONE!! Review: THIS IS A DELIGHTFUL READ THAT WILL MAKE YOU LAUGH OUT LOUD, SOMETHING I NEVER DO WHILE READING A BOOK, i DON'T THINK THERE IS A SINGLE WOMAN ALIVE WHO HAS NOT HAS BRIDGET'S OBSESSIONS AND DRAMAS,A JOY OF A BOOK TO FLY THROUGH FOR A SUMMER READ
Rating: Summary: Perhaps one of the best books I have ever read .... Review: When I first glanced at the book sitting on the nightstand in my mom's room, I never intended to read it. But I picked it up, read the first few pages, and was instantly hooked. From Brigit's dreams of mini breaks with Daniel to her love of Blind Date, Helen Fielding really captures the reader's attention. I myself am sixteen and at first I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it. But my mom (who is english -- I'm not) said it was hilarious, and she wasn't kidding. If you're looking for something to cheer you up after a disaster date or a foul run in with your parents -- read this. It'll pick you right up
Rating: Summary: I HAVEN'T LAUGHED SO MUCH OVER A BOOK IN YEARS! Review: ALL THE GOOD THINGS PEOPLE SAY ABOUT THIS BOOK ARE IF ANYTHING UNDEREXAGGERATED. POOH ON THOSE WHO CAN'T LIGHTEN UP ONCE IN A WHILE AND READ A BOOK THAT ISN'T FULL OF DESPAIR AND PROFUNDITY. HAVE SOME FUN! ADMIT IT'S AT LEAST PARTLY TRUE IN CONTENT (V. MUCH IF YOU ASK ME). THE ONE THING I REALLY RECOMMEND IS TO LISTEN TO THE AUDIO TAPE VERSION ALSO. TRACIE BENNETT BROUGHT BRIDGET TO LIFE IN THE MOST ENTERTAINING AND LOVEABLE WAY.
Rating: Summary: -5 star rating should be made for this book! Review: Who wants to read about a thirty something woman whining about gaining a pound? Not me! Bridget was not an original character, nor was she a strong one. I had gotten to around page fifty when I could not make myself read another word of it. I took the book back. A book may not need to be a revelation of the human psyche, but if it's going to be this bad, it could at least be funny! Maybe then I wouldn't laugh at how poorly it's written.
Rating: Summary: not as great as they say -- only okay. Review: I was really looking forward to this book thinking I'd be laughing non-stop as I had been for Divine Secrests of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood -- but I felt let down. Maybe I just get British humor, but this book is not very funny. Bridget is insecure and pathetic -- I just wanted to tell her to get a life and stop obsessing! But I did like this book because it's a fast easy read -- perfect for the summer! A no-brainer. And I could relate to Bridget on some level. But, I certainly couldn't be her friend -- her insecurity would drive me batty!
Rating: Summary: terribly dissapointing Review: great in the beginning but totally screws up half way through and makes one feel like they've ingested 1/2 a ton of good and plenty -- just another "my prince will come and save me" fairy tale -- that doesn't offer alternatives for modern women.
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Keeps you riveted! Review: I sent off to the U.K. for this book last winter following a review on CNN. I loved it! I found the narrator charming (in her obsessive/compulsive sort of way!), the commentary about 90's choices for career/relationships/family/social-life realistic with a witty perspective and I loved the calorie and cigarette counts! A must-read for any woman who feels her that her life takes charge of her and feels as though she's the only one it's happening to. The narrator kept me intrigued and amused. I LOVED THIS BOOK and am so glad it's now available in the U.S.!
Rating: Summary: Not what I expected Review: Everybody recommended this book to me, but when I read it, I was very disappointed. I had a few laughs throughout the book, but it wasn't as funny as I have heard.
Rating: Summary: I'm not Bridget Jones, but I loved her diary Review: OK, I'm forty, American, and married, but Bridget's life still rang true to me. Fear of "scary parties", rummaging through the laundry trying to find something to wear to work, overbearing parents, culinary disasters - Bridget finds herself in situations that anyone can appreciate. Read it and enjoy!
Rating: Summary: fabulous Review: This was the best book I've ever read. I laughed at almost every page. Bridget voiced the thoughts over every woman~ a must read.
