Rating: Summary: fabulous Review: I was supposed to be finishing my $60000 thesis, but instead spent the entire night reading this book. I adored it!
Rating: Summary: Bridget is pathetic Review: This book was not funny, although the author tried desperately to make it so. It was an OK read at best. I do not recommend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Total mind candy. Like comics without pictures. Review: The perfect "between books" read. No brain power required, or expected, but it's funny as all get out. One hopes, however, that the main characters life is not typical of her contemporaries. Read this book today, then leave it in the loo to provide a good chuckle for guests....
Rating: Summary: Wow wow. Long-needed laugh. Review: I usually get bitter and straight-faced when reading supposed 'humorous' novels... just another indication of my innate difference from other people (and their sense of humor)... a sense of betrayal from all those people who SAY they are my friends. This book was, actually, v. funny. At one point I laughed for 5 minutes straight. Helen Fielding has created a perfect quasi-epistolary _Pamela_ for the 90's. What's more, she has done it so deftly that I, a man, was not alienated but rather came to understand my wife's orbital mania re: planning vacations. Yes, I'm a MAN and I enjoyed this NOVEL. Don't look at me that way. You would enjoy it, too, if YOU were man enough. V.v. recommended.
Rating: Summary: You go, Bridget! Review: I laughed, I sighed, I yelled out loud, I wanted to go back to England! Bridget tells it like it is for so many 20-30 year old women in the 90's, and like so many women in the 90's, she takes life as it comes and doesn't look back. Dare I say that even men will be amused by this book?
Rating: Summary: Fun Read Review: Brigit Jones is everywhere--as a matter of fact, I could be Brigit Jones--the calorie counting, hung overs on sunday mornings, gay friends, nasty breakups...I absolutely enjoyed the reading. It's a must-read for all the single female professional metropolis inhabitants. It makes you feel that you are NORMAL!!!! In fact, what would life be without all these mishaps. Pick up a copy today and I bet you can even substitute the characters in the book with your own friends, it's that real!!!!!
Rating: Summary: A Book That's Worth Reading A Million Times Over Review: When I pick up this book I couldn't put it down. The book was so funny that I lost sleep until I finish reading it. Helen is so creative and so real that she protrays all us "singltons" in the exact manor that we come in. I have recommeded the book to all of my friends and they love it just as much as I do. No book compares with that of Briget Jones Diary.
Rating: Summary: It's internationally true! Review: I really love this book. It pictures the embarassment many single women face in a humourous and witty way. Although I am from Taiwan(South East Asia), I still identify with B.J. and share her feeling.
Rating: Summary: What a fun book!!!! Review: I am quite a fan of tbe book, Bridget Jones!! I can totally relate to Bridget because I was in the same game for a long time. I am 35 years and recently married(1year 2months)- when I am reading about the way she feels when she is with married people always asking her how her love life is, I crack up because that's exactly how it is!! I also know what it's like trying to get a guy and discussing everything with my friends!(those were always fun times!!) It was such a fun book that I am reading it for the 2nd time in less than 6 months (my book club is reviewing it this week). I find that even though I read it before I am getting as many laughs and joy out of it as i did the first time!! I hope there is a sequel!!
Rating: Summary: definitely entertaining but... Review: I enjoyed this book but didn't find myself laughing out loud. I found some of the British terms confusing; however, eventually figured out what the definitions were (too bad there wasn't a small glossary of terms in the back for us non-Brits). Overall it was entertaining and a quick read.
