Summary: Very real, very funny
Review: This book was such a quick read. I enjoyed relating to Bridget in this story--counting calories on a daily basis, obsessed with my weight, nitpicking everything in my life. It reminded me a lot of the show "Sex and the City," not "Ally McBeal" as much. Bridget was trying to find Mr. Right throughout the book, realizing that it was about time to "settle down," but she decided she wasn't going to settle for just anyone. I liked her strengths and weaknesses as a character. Fun summer read.

Summary: Purchased for my daughter -- I couldn't put it down!
Review: My husband bought this for my 23-year old daughter -- I sat down to begin reading and couldn't put it down until it was finished -- late into the evening. Loved Jane's sense of sarcastic humor! Not to be wasted on just the "younger" reader!

Review: I have never read a more entertaining book in my entire life. This book is not just for thirty something professional singletons. ANYONE regardless of gender, sexuality, marital status, age, race or size will find this book heartwarming, a little sad and wildly, laugh out loud funny!

Review: I just couldn't get with it. It had some funny moments, but overall I was very disappointed.

Summary: Entertaining, easy, light reading for 20 somethings.
Review: I must admit that this was not my most favorite book, but I was compelled to finish it. I thought the overall story was good, but found the line items about her weight & cigerettes & alcohol distracting. The "smug marrieds" in my book club didn't think it was funny, but secretly...Not too long ago I could relate to some of what the character experienced, but who wants to admit to feeling pathetic about not being married! (Thank God I'm engaged!)

Review: Bridget Jones' Diary is a witty, wildly funny, easy read. A great summer book. I confess to laughing (evening snorting)out loud. While much of Bridget's life and the lives of those around her seem impossible to believe, her battles with her self (weight, career, love life) are very real to most women. I cant wait for the movie to come out.

Summary: Entertainingly funny look at singledom
Review: Bridget is me. She is surrounded by her friends, family and boyfriends. All are idenifiable characters from any single woman's life. The men she falls in love with, the friends she puts up with all lend themselves to a rich tapestry which is fun to read about. It is very entertaining how the whole world, in her eyes, is divided into those who are single and those who have a significant other. Bottom line-it is sooooooooo funny.

Review: I found the book ended too soon for me though, I would of loved to have a couple more months worth of entries...just to see how things are going.

Summary: Reading this book made me ashamed to be a woman.
Review: I find it utterly terrifying that some many people claim to be able to identify with Bridget Jones or are "just like her!" Plowing through the tedium that is her life is downright painful. I hated every character in the book and only read to the end in the secret hope that everyone dies in a freak dinner party accident- instead, I was tortured with the most contrived ending ever written.

Review: This book came highly recommended from a friend, and I was disappointed. I did laugh at some points, but found most of the book predictable and whiny. I personally thought "Alice K's Guide to Life" by Caroline Knapp did a better job of capturing the neurotic nature of the 30something single, female mind.
