Summary: Bridget Jones's Diary
Review: I thought this book was very well thought out. I couldn't put it down. It's the life of almost every 30-something year old singleton. Anyone who is, was, or will be single can relate.

Summary: All Hail Queen Bridget
Review: What can I say? I loved this book. It had it all. It was funny, frustrating and at times very sad. Bridget is a true icon for the millenium and I dont know how anyone couldnt relate to her on some level. Even if it is just to pity her.

I enjoyed this book so much I had it read in one day. I strongly recommend reading it. It wont change your life but youll take comfort in the fact that your life may not be as screwed up as Bridgets.

Summary: Fluff. If you like that kind of thing...
Review: An amusing read. Just check your feminist principles at the door first. Bridget is incredibly shallow. Just about the point I work up some sympathy for her, she dissolves into complete vapidness. (The whole bit about enjoying the drama of her friend's imagined death? Or her mother's criminal escapades? Please.) And the end is farcical. And Mark Darcy is, yes, the knight in shining armor... Also, I don't care how many lottery tickets she buys, but the device has to be consistent. Okay, all that said, it does have some funny bits. It's sort of brain candy. The pleasures you get from this are the same derived from reading People magazine. Fluffy confection. Not literature.

Summary: Screamingly Funny
Review: I could not put this down and kept saying to myself: "I am soooo Bridget!". Then I settled down, got attached and am even thinking about getting a puppy - so now I delve into every once in a while to remind me about "single life"! Seriously, though, this is a funny, quick, lighthearted and ultimately friendly read. Readers will either want to hug Bridget or strangle Bridget. Either way, you'll have an opinion and have a rollicking good time forming it!

Summary: Coudn't relate to Bridget
Review: Thought this book was very trite. Bridget is the epitomy of the women today who are falling victim to the "media view" of what you should be like. To begin each day evaluating your self worth by how much you weigh, how many lottery tickets you purchased, etc. Get over it! Found it hard to get emotionally involved with the characters in this book.

Summary: Hilarious, yet poignant
Review: Though reminiscent of Sue Townsend's Adrian Mole character, Bridget Jones is a thirtysomething single girl in London, & through her diary, we get to know her. And love her! Her self-loathing, her dreams, her desires.... This book is laugh-out-loud in parts. There is one scene where Bridget is trying to program her VCR - it's a riot! It's also poignant - Bridget's loneliness, her waiting for the phone to ring, her feelings for her boss who's a real cad etc. I loved this book! When do we get to see 'B.J.'s Diary Part 2'in paperback?

Summary: I Prefer Jane
Review: I was surpsied at how utterly pathetic Bridget is. I kept waiting for her to face her alcoholism. And I found the writing awkward. I guess leaving the subject out of the sentence is supposed to make it seem more like an actual diary, but I kept having to re-read to make sense of it. I understand that people like this book and hey! that's great for you. But if you DON'T like this book, try "The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing" -- Jane is so much cooler than Bridget.

Summary: Gotta love that "emotional f**kwittage"!
Review: My friend read BJD in only a few hours and immediately handed it over to me. Needless to say, I also read the book by the time the night was over. It is a hilarious account of a woman who does what the rest of us do at one time or another. (Although it seems a bit more exaggerated - at least let's hope so!). From tabulating the number of times she called a guy to gabbing about "emotional f**kwittage" (which, I must admit, is the best word to describe what guys do to women), Bridget is a witty and hilarious woman. Give BJD a read and I guarantee you will laugh out loud at least 97 times!

Summary: A diary worth peeking at....
Review: A pretty amusing account of one woman's struggles. Her weight obsession, longing for a man, career developments, and family problems. I enjoyed this novel because although we wish it wasn't so, so many women are exactly like bridgit jones. Overanalyzing details & conversations, worried about life, love, our jobs, body image; and trying to have a good time as often as possible. I found this book amusing and would recommend it to anyone looking for a light, silly read.

Summary: A juicy read!
Review: I honestly couldn't put it down! Bridget's Diary takes an amusing yet honest look at where most women have been at some point in their life -- single with a "dead end" job, and ultimately thinking they are overweight, when they really are not! This book hit the spot for me as it was very funny and a quick read. This is a good one!
