Rating: Summary: Positive book Review: I bought this book for my wife and ended up reading it myself. I did not know much about this author, but the name of the book caught my attention and I am glad I read it. Its a very simple book on very tough questions you might ask yourself everyday. Its a book that everyone should read since it leaves you feeling positive not only about life, but death as well.
Rating: Summary: dissapointed Review: Not his best work. It is just okay and I can not recomend this book. His book One Last Time is much better.
Rating: Summary: A good book for sharing. Review: This book acts as a "primer" on the afterlife told as a simple family tale. Spiritual but non-denominational, it is lovely, comforting, easy and quick to read. For those of us brought up in a "fear of God" atmosphere, this is a book we wish we'd had long ago when we feared death and blamed God for taking people from us. It's a really good book for sharing, esp. with those who are dealing with the loss of a loved one.
Rating: Summary: The Sun Is Shining Review: "What If God Were The Sun" is an amazing novel. It is one of those books that move you from laughter to tears with a turn of the page just like the passing of days in one's life. John Edward, really out did himself with this wonderful story of family. This is a novel that anyone with a family can relate to. You will get wrapped up in characters like Grandma Rosie and come to love each and everyone one of them. You will feel like you are going through the good and the bad times with this family and enjoy the ride. I give this book 5 stars (I would give it more if allowed) it touched my heart and when it was done I longed for more. John Edward, is amazing all around from his first novel "One Last Time" to his t.v. show "Crossing Over" this novel fits right in at the top. What can I say, I am a true fan and when you give this book a chance you will become one too.
Rating: Summary: A Novel Explanation Review: This book is a novel, and not a "One Last Time" Part 2. It is obviously semi-autobiographical, full of big family sentimentality, lots of love between generations and even a moving relationship with a dog. I think John Edward used this form to answer, as far as he is able, the questions "what does he see?," "What is the after death experience like and what is the next world like?" and "How do those who have crossed over feel and communicate?" John Edward has explained that he can't give definitive answers to these questions, but this novel does reveal what he knows. If these are questions in your mind, the novel will satisfy your curiosity.
Rating: Summary: A Novel for John Edward Fans Only! Review: I'm a believer in the afterlife and a fan of John Edward as a psychic medium. I loved his first book, "One Last Time: A Psychic Medium Speaks to Those We've Loved and Lost." But as a novelist...well, let's just say, I hope Edward doesn't quit his day job."What If God Were the Sun?" is too short (141 pages) to be considered a novel; it's more of a "novelette," or a long short-story. There is not enough action or character development to draw the reader in. Since Edward is first and foremost a psychic, and not a writer, the oversight might be understandable; however, a good editor might have tried to convince him that sometimes more is not only more, but necessary. Another drawback is the switching back and forth between characters and time. In this instance, the fact that the book is so short may have been a plus because it made it less of a task to figure out who was speaking now vs. who was speaking two pages ago. Like all good novels, there is a twist to "What If God Were the Sun?" and this one is handled adequately, considering the few pages allotted to set up and deliver it. Again, I just wish Edward had spent as much time developing his characters as he did trying to get across his point about the continuation of life after physical death. I would recommend this book only to people who are (a) believers in an aferlife and/or (b) fans of John Edward. Readers who are simply looking for good plot and character development will undoubtedly be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: The sun will always shine... Review: Although this book appears to have been written from a fictional perspective...it does however suggest that the underlying story is one of John's own personal experience with love and death. Told from the characters point of a view this story does not end with the passing of a loved one. Instead this story transcends the limits of life as most people have been taught to believe and instead gives us hope and reassurance that our connection with our loved ones who have crossed will forever remain intact.
Rating: Summary: I loved this book Review: I received this book after my Grandfather passed on and I loved it. I stayed up till 4:00 am could not put it down. I passed it on to my Mom-in-law after her Sister crossed over and she loved it. Thanks John Edward for helping me understand what goes on after we cross over.
Rating: Summary: How can I be saying this? Review: I watch John Edward any chance I get on t.v. and gain so much comfort that the life energy does not end but transform. The ending of this book was the most disappointing thing for me. All of a suddent the character "crossed over" and there was everyone who had gone before him, even his childhood dog...like they had all been sitting around in some giant living room in their funeral clothes waiting... everything was just the same as in life, only somewhere else. Maybe I was looking for a revelation and I was willing to stretch for it too...but then the ending was very clear and unsatisfactory. There seeem to be many people who loved the book and I'm glad they got something from it but I was disappointed...but only by the book...not John's work.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely WONDERFUL Review: John Edward's first fictional book reflects much of his work in real life. It is a wonderful and heartfelt account of how one family copes with the loss of a very close loved one. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who has lost someone close to them. I was so wrapped up in it from the first few pages that I finished it in one sitting. It is truly a wonderful read, but remember to have a full stock of tissues!
