Summary: The Sun Is Shining
Review: "What If God Were The Sun" is an amazing novel. It is one of those books that move you from laughter to tears with a turn of the page just like the passing of days in one's life. John Edward, really out did himself with this wonderful story of family. This is a novel that anyone with a family can relate to. You will get wrapped up in characters like Grandma Rosie and come to love each and everyone one of them. You will feel like you are going through the good and the bad times with this family and enjoy the ride. I give this book 5 stars (I would give it more if allowed) it touched my heart and when it was done I longed for more. John Edward, is amazing all around from his first novel "One Last Time" to his t.v. show "Crossing Over" this novel fits right in at the top. What can I say, I am a true fan and when you give this book a chance you will become one too.

Summary: The Loved Ones Left Behind
Review: I read this book cover-to-cover-non-stop in one night. It made me smile, laugh, and cry. I don't want to say too much to give away the story but it takes a look at love, family, and grief through the eyes one man from his childhood until old age. At first I thought it was a true story about the pyschic medium, John Edward, (hello...hence the word NOVEL...meaning...FICTION). If you're someone who isn't really into the "psychic stuff," this book doesn't focus on that sort of thing. It is more about how one family deals with losing their loved ones. It does provide some interesting ways of explaining God, dying, and the grief process to children. It was excellent. I could not put it down..except to go get tissues.

Summary: John Edward is an awsome person
Review: I just got What If God Was The Sun for Christmas and I am half way through it and can not put it down.Even though John says it is fictional I already found alot of names and things that are connected to John himself, but if this is how he wanted to write the book then I say go right ahead John your awsome no matter what.I am on chapter four of this book. I have read One Last Time, Crossing over with John Edward Stories behind the Stories, and Afterlife and now If God was the Sun.Every book that I have read gets better and better John is just an amazing person.I also have two of his cds and he helps me get through my meditation.I record Crossing over With John Edward when I am at work and when I am home I watch it.I just love the show its amazing and John is just an amazing person.
People out there that call him "fake" and tell lies about his family should be ashamed of themselves. What has John done to you personally? We are not here to judge anyone, and call people names just because we dont know about that person and yes I did say person John has feelings, just because God blessed him with an amazing talent who are these "skeptics"like john likes to call them, who are they to knock him.He doesn't knock anyone else or their talents so I think you should back off.

If anyone hasn't read this book it awsome.I recomand this to anyone who is a John Edward fan or who just needs to know there are people out there that are going through the same thing that you are going through.

Summary: A Novel for John Edward Fans Only!
Review: I'm a believer in the afterlife and a fan of John Edward as a psychic medium. I loved his first book, "One Last Time: A Psychic Medium Speaks to Those We've Loved and Lost." But as a novelist...well, let's just say, I hope Edward doesn't quit his day job.

"What If God Were the Sun?" is too short (141 pages) to be considered a novel; it's more of a "novelette," or a long short-story. There is not enough action or character development to draw the reader in. Since Edward is first and foremost a psychic, and not a writer, the oversight might be understandable; however, a good editor might have tried to convince him that sometimes more is not only more, but necessary.

Another drawback is the switching back and forth between characters and time. In this instance, the fact that the book is so short may have been a plus because it made it less of a task to figure out who was speaking now vs. who was speaking two pages ago.

Like all good novels, there is a twist to "What If God Were the Sun?" and this one is handled adequately, considering the few pages allotted to set up and deliver it. Again, I just wish Edward had spent as much time developing his characters as he did trying to get across his point about the continuation of life after physical death.

I would recommend this book only to people who are (a) believers in an aferlife and/or (b) fans of John Edward. Readers who are simply looking for good plot and character development will undoubtedly be disappointed.

Summary: A heart-warming story, unique; one of a kind
Review: This book makes you a participant in the story. If you're looking for a heart-warming tale that gives hope of love lasting past the death of the physical body, this is it. This book is unique, in that the story is about the endless circle of love that transcends the earthly plane. John Edward fans will recognize John himself, in the fictional main character, as he describes his family, and his feelings about how we deal with life, death, family and God. A very easy read, with interesting plot devices. I recommend this book highly, and I look forward to more fictional tales from John Edward about the nature and importance of the spirit.

Summary: I loved this book
Review: I received this book after my Grandfather passed on and I loved it. I stayed up till 4:00 am could not put it down.
I passed it on to my Mom-in-law after her Sister crossed over and she loved it.
Thanks John Edward for helping me understand what goes on after we cross over.

Summary: Great idea; execution could be better
Review: When I found out John Edward wrote a book of fiction, I immediately searched for a copy to read. I've always been fascinated by the spirit world and am myself trying to come to grips with how the soul abilities I have can be used to help others, like Edward does. Enter books like this, which I turn to in hopes of better understanding myself.

Just for the message and intent behind WHAT IF GOD WERE THE SUN? I give it three stars. Those alone make this little volume a pretty inspiring one. I think, though, that it could have been better written so it could be a more gripping and, thus, affecting read, especially for those whose interest in such matters could use a little perking up.

Technically of course there's nothing wrong with how the book was written. It's really more the "showing" instead of "telling" thing (that understandably plagues a lot of writers) that it could benefit from.

But kudos to you John Edward for your work in the field. I admire people like you who aren't afraid to come out in the open with your psychic abilities. I hope to learn how to handle mine better so I can begin doing what you and others have already begun.

Summary: How can I be saying this?
Review: I watch John Edward any chance I get on t.v. and gain so much comfort that the life energy does not end but transform. The ending of this book was the most disappointing thing for me. All of a suddent the character "crossed over" and there was everyone who had gone before him, even his childhood dog...like they had all been sitting around in some giant living room in their funeral clothes waiting... everything was just the same as in life, only somewhere else. Maybe I was looking for a revelation and I was willing to stretch for it too...but then the ending was very clear and unsatisfactory. There seeem to be many people who loved the book and I'm glad they got something from it but I was disappointed...but only by the book...not John's work.

Summary: Absolutely WONDERFUL
Review: John Edward's first fictional book reflects much of his work in real life. It is a wonderful and heartfelt account of how one family copes with the loss of a very close loved one. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who has lost someone close to them. I was so wrapped up in it from the first few pages that I finished it in one sitting. It is truly a wonderful read, but remember to have a full stock of tissues!

Summary: Healing for loss of human and pet loved ones
Review: I echo the sentiments of the "vickivail" review; coudn't have expressed it better. What has been extremely helpful to me and I would think others is that John Edwards and other top psychics frequently mention the presence of pets on the "other side". As Mr. Edwards so clearly shows, healing does not happen in a brief moment; it takes time. We have his book and others so well-written that help us to understand and deal with this. Up til very recently, however, there was really nothing written specifically about the fate of our pets after they pass on. Books on grief counseling for this were few to say in the least, and reading material on information or evidence for their continuing on did not seem to exist. This changed however- and how! with the book 'The Soul of Your Pet' by Scott Smith. He has stories of sightings in the here-and-now of ghost pets. What makes the premise so believable, however, are those that show a number of people at the same time seeing or hearing them. Sometimes living animals see them at the same time the owners do. These spontaneous appearances can happen at any time and any place. Reviewers have pointed out that that group hypnosis or illusion coming from grief can't be logical explanations in any relevant story, because the spottings just happen unexpectedly. These have nothing to do with readings, where people come expecting to learn about someone who has passed on. And since sometimes some ghost pets are seen by other than the owner, and even other living pets this rules out other attempts at explaining these phenomena asimaginings stemming from heartbreak or otherwise. There is a section devoted to Bible evidence (convincing) also of animals going to heaven, and what other religions have to say on the subject. Liked the chapter on animal intelligence as well. Kind of brings together the idea that animals are a significant part of God's plan and creation. I am happy to say that the book a friend ordered arrived a lot faster than the time AMZN says it might take. It was needed in a hurry.
