Review: I hate this book. Luckily, I did not buy it but took it out at the library. i am only on page 50 and I know i will not finish it. I don't care about the characters because they are just very annoying women. eeww! it is still in my apartment taking up space. :-P

Review: Only someone who grew up Catholic and grew up in the South could write with the emotion and intensity of this author. Rebecca Wells has captured the demographics of her youth in beautiful words and added to it the pleasant unpleasantness of the ever-popular Dysfunctional Family with words that bring tears to your eyes. Tears, I might add, caused by extreme laughter and intense emotion. I loved this book and sit ready to order her next from amazon.com.

Review: This is the best novel I have read yet this year. Siddalee and I could have been twins! The questions she had not only about herself, but about where she came from were both confusing and mysterious. Why was she who she was? Why did she question the rites of life...marriage, children? The fears she experienced are the same fears I had as a child...and an adult. What is the key to life (great symbolism!!)? The plot played in shades of gray, like real life. Not black and white like most fairytales. There is no easy answer, no key to life. Take it as it comes, deal with it. Simple, effective words to live by. This novel has a fantastic mix of tragedy and happiness, and is an overall feel-good novel.

Review: I heard alot about this book for at least a year before I finally sat down and read it. Slow to start, I couldn't really get involved for the first 100 pages but then it was wonderful. Rebecca Wells writes with an enthusiasm that is rare and there are so many poignant moments that touched me and probably many many other women who read this book. The one scene that really moved me was the time when Vivi was all alone with 4 crying, sick children. No one has ever described the hell that mothers go through with young children more convincingly than that. I was really moved by this book and would call it one of the best I've read in a long time.

Review: As a 13-year old with a somewhat cynical mind, I could envision people not having patience for this book. However, I found it truly wonderful. If I wasn't crying, I was laughing hysterically. The characters, although often selfish and one-dimensional, grow on you instantly. When I began Little Altars Everywhere, it was like reuniting with lost friends. The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood describes the hardships of life with a Cajun, yee haw twist. This mixture creates a enthrilling page-turner that you just can't get enough of. Therefore, if you are a very cynical person who is somewhat judgemental and likes to tear things apart, don't read about the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. However, if you are looking for a novel about everything in life, this is the book for you.

Review: This is a very enjoyable novel! It made me realize how little I know about my mom, and how much more I want to know. I want her to read this book, and then give her a big hug. This is a very thought- and emotion-provoking book. Everyone of us needs to be more ya-ya! I can't wait to read other work by Wells.
