Summary: Not award winning prose but very entertaining.
Review: Read this book on a warm Sunday afternoon at the beach

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: excellent
Review: What a book vs/story. It was too real. Each page moved so quickly and I could not stop enjoying the chapters. At times I would have to rest the book, because it is a treasure and it needed to linger longer. Thank You. I know I can not be a Ya-Ya girl, but it would be great! I have three girl friends and they are the best Ya-Ya's ever!

Summary: Fantastic Read!
Review: Loved this book. Been reading the Oprah books lately (The Reader, Pilot's Wife) and this ranked even higher than these books. I felt closer to my own mom after reading this book. I have seen many photos of my mom and her friends posing in bathing suits, going to dances, etc. in the 40s so I felt an instant bond to Sidda. All daughters should read this book and remember their mothers had a life before they came along, as incredible as that may seem. And as a mother of a daughter I wonder what my own daughter will know about me. Thought-provoking, enjoyable, funny, touching book. Can't wait to read Little Altars and anything else written by Rebecca Wells!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The best book I have read in a very long time!
Review: What a great book! All mother-daughter and friend relationships are complicated and these are as complicated as it gets. All the characters have their strengths and their weaknesses, but they love each other anyway. No one is the "hero" here and no one is the "villain"; they ALL keep trying to understand and relate to one another. Each of us knows someone who is eccentric and the characters remind us of the best and the worst of such people. However, after reading this book, I am very grateful for the parents I have. The use of flashbacks was effective and helped shape our understanding of the characters. I have never cried and laughed so much during one book. The descriptions of their lives and Louisiana were wondrous and compelling. Wouldn't it be wonderful to be part of such an accepting, caring, and long-term group of friends? My favorite part was the description of the Gone With the Wind premiere and surrounding events. What a hoot! I tried to read this book slowly, but still finished wanting more. I bought three copies to give as gifts and cannot wait to discuss it!

Summary: Wickedly Fabulous!
Review: I read this book after having read "Little Altars Everywhere" and I enjoyed it nearly as much. I think we all have a little bit of Vivi in our hearts, just waiting to escape! My only disappointment was in Sidda. While she was "mahvalous" in Little Altars, she is disappointing and sometimes annoying in this book. I wanted to shake her and tell her to not let Mr. Right get away!!! Still, I enjoyed this book very, very much!

Summary: Very light reading
Review: This was an okay read if you're looking to breeze through something without a whole lot of substance. I much prefer some protein--books with a powerful story and characters, like Glenn Kleier's THE LAST DAY, which, in my opinion, is one of the most compelling and outrageous novels on the market right now. If you're looking for a light read, pick YA-YA. If you want to get your blood flowing, read THE LAST DAY.

Summary: I want to be a Ya Ya...dysfunctions and all!
Review: I have read many books. I've never cried while reading any of them...or laughed so easily. I thank Rebecca Wells for her spirit and ability to so gently yet powerfully tell this story. I think most daughters can relate to this and I think most of us wished we had the Ya Ya's to help us understand our mothers.

I have a sister Vivan and she is now affectionately call "Vivi Dahlin". It's not such a stretch. She is as complicated as the real Vivi, but then again, aren't we all?

All family relationships require passports to travel through. I am so glad I got a chance to hear the accents and smell the spices cooking through Vivi's shrimp etoufee.

Forever a fan of the Ya Ya's!

Summary: Great! Close to home! It kept me laughing!
Review: The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood was great! I really loved it! This is a must read, especially if you are from the South. I am from Louisiana myself where the book is set and that just made it better for me! I hope that everyone who reads this book falls in love with Vivi Walker and the other Ya-Ya's as much as I did. I hope that Rebecca Wells writes more books with these characters in them. It kept me laughing until the end.

Summary: Not for me
Review: I can see how some people would find this a good book. Unfortunately, I have not been lucky enough to find any solid frienships similar to the ones told about in this book. It almost made me depressed to read it.
