Summary: EXCELLENT couldn't put it down
Review: I just loved the YA, YA'S!!!!! Icouldn'twait to read more about the Walker's families dysfunctions as i think we all can relate since our families share some also.I felt like I was part of their family and you couldn't help but bond to all of them. The format was very well done with the past being thrown in to keep you hooked till you cry when you find its over!!!! I hated it to end and I can't wait to read Little Altars so I can continue to be part of the Walker family.

Summary: Frustratingly uneven but enjoyable
Review: I, too, read this book on the recommendation of a friend, and I, too found Sidda's character and storyline to be weak and annoying. From the moment the Ya-Yas hit the stage as Shirley Temple look-alikes, though, I was hooked. The Ya-Yas are vibrant and thoroughly entertaining (even though some of them obviously have dark sides--as do most interesting characters). I found myself hurrying through the Sidda material to get to the next flashback. A stronger, less generically uppercrust version of Sidda (Ah, the theatre, where one can find acclaim as a producer, fall in love with Prince Charming, AND make friends who will lend you their lakeside cabins on the Olympic Penninsula! Huh?) would have provided a much more believable framework for the Ya-Ya recollections. Or perhaps no framework was needed. Many of the Ya-Ya stories stand alone.

Summary: Every woman who ever hated her family should read this!
Review: Its a great book that brings to light just how crazy we all get around our families. Of course there is good and bad in all relationships, sometimes we need someone to point out just how silly we all become.

Summary: Read it, pass it on to your mother, sister and best friend
Review: Read it, then pass it on to your mother, sister and best friend! This book is an excellent book for anyone who has experienced a serious relationship and deep bond with another individual. You'll smile, laugh and cry, but best of all, you'll laugh out loud at the touching experiences of the Ya-Ya's!

Summary: I thoroughly enjoyed the book
Review: I've been reading Oprah's book choicesthis summer and by far this is the best.I fell in love with all of the characters. I couldn't put this down and I was soooo disappointed that it had to end. Can't wait to read LITTLE Altars EVERYWHERE.

Summary: Magnificent Look Into What Separates Us From Ourselves!!
Review: After reading this book, I realize that I too was raised by a Ya-Ya. Only now I can see my mother in the light of her joyful life instead of all that once embarrassed me. Rebecca Wells has done the world (my world, anyway) a favor by letting us see the underbelly of these important, mysterious relationships. Bless you! And bless all who read this work!

Summary: The novel is a wonderful tapestry of the south at that time.
Review: I enjoyed every aspect of this book. I don't think the marketing of it gives it its due justice. It's not about girls hopscotching over each other. It's much more complicated than the cover shows, and well worth the read. It's a beautiful novel about life, real life choices, spirituality and the heart. I hope it's read that way.

Summary: Enjoyable bondy, girly, friendshippy book...
Review: I thought the book was well worth reading. I especially enjoyed the transitions from the old stories featured in the 'Divine Secrets' book, to Siddalee's reaction to the material which she had just read and how it affected her life. Unfortunately the ending was a bit disappointing - I have to admit that I was expecting more. However, the most significant element of the book, is the portrayal of the close network of friendships... Between mother and daughter, mother and her own friends, daughter and mothers friends etc. This was the backbone of the book and the description of these close female bonds was executed perfectly. It did have it's flaws, but it is worth reading.

Summary: Great book about the mysterious friendship of women
Review: "Divine Secrets" is a great read. I loved the in- your-face "realness" of the Ya-Yas. Any woman who has close relationships with sisters, girlfriends, and/or daugthers will relate to this book, if not in setting and time frame, then certainly in spirit. It reminds us that family and friendships are absolutely imperfect and absolutely wonderful!I have passed it on to everyone I know. It's a MUST read!!!
