Rating: Summary: Wonderful, mothers and daughters should read this one ... Review: I read Little Altars Everywhere first, and couldn't wait to get my hands on Ya Ya's. God...I grew up in New Orleans, but had plenty of family in CenLa. Not only did it evoke the feeling of 'home'...but the differences in the relationships between mothers and daughters vs. seeing the mothers as women with a tight circle of friends....should be a must read for mothers and daughters. I know I passed them on to my mama and am anxiously awaiting her opinion.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put this book down! Review: I loved this book and am reading it a second time. I grew up in the 50's and 60's and could relate to the "petite ya-yas." I was totally caught up in it---laughed a lot and cried, too. I intend to send a copy to my daughter to read.
Rating: Summary: So good, you hate for it to end . Review: The Southern spirit and environment just exudes from these pages. The characters are wonderfully portrayed--these five women are right out of the a typical Southern small town. One can almost taste the crawdads and smell the jasmine. This was the BEST I have read in months!!
Rating: Summary: I could not put this wonderful, enthralling book down. Review: Ya-Ya Sisterhood is one of the best books I've read in a long, long time. I cried, laughed, and could not stop thinking about what was happening with the characters. It captures the South vividly, and Rebecca Wells pictures each character so clearly you feel like you know them. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It's absolutely wonderful.
Rating: Summary: perfection in the world of defuntional children now adults Review: How can one give full credit why one likes one work unless they have lived ya ya life!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: A wonderful, touching and brilliantly written book! Review: I highly recommend this book to everyone!! This book warmed my heart and made me long for a sisterhood of my own. I fell in love with Viva dahlin and all the Ya-Ya's. It shows the kind of friendship that every girl wants in her life. I laughed and cried and couldn't put it down. Rebecca Wells is an incredible writer. I hope this wasn't her last. Don't wait any longer to go and buy this book. When your done, pass it around.
Rating: Summary: under a blanket, over a blanket Review: Whether you want to keep warm under a blanket on a chilly winter nite, or lie on it on the best beach day of all, reading this book was like having the blankee you lost as a child. If you had any enduring relationships with other women, the read reminded you of them, if you were not so fortunate as to have those rrelationships in life, it made you long for them. The characters materialized off the pages and filled the imagination. Hope more books like this one. Ya Ya
Rating: Summary: Wonderful book with gutsy, exasperating, lovable characters! Review: What a great book! I didn't always like the Ya-yas' behavior, but I thoroughly enjoyed each of them. With a saucier, wittier (irreverant?) style, but with the same deftness as Joanna Trollope, Rebecca Wells quickly draws us in and invites us to laugh and cry with these characters. I won't say more--cause I'd hate to give away any of the plot. Buy it!
Rating: Summary: The best book I have ever read! Review: I was immediately drawn into the story and lives of the characters. I laughed out loud and cried too! It is a wonderful example of the complexities and deep bonds women are capable of developing with eachother. This book will speak to people on many different levels. Absolutely the best book I have ever read!
