Summary: A magical novel that will haunt and intrigue you forever.
Review: As a prepare to read this novel again, I can only hope to re-capture the magic of the first time. I remember laughing outloud and sobbing with the pain of the Wingo family. This book is a definite must-read to obtain an authentic flavor of what it is to be a Southerner. And still, when I cross over a bridge anywhere but especially on the coast I recall Tom's words, "Lowenstein, Lowenstein." and it brings all the feeling of the novel back to my heart and mind. Read it!

Summary: The best book I've ever read
Review: That's a strong statement, but true. This book is a true American epic. It has all of the elements of the greatest works of literature: tragic characters; symbolism; sweeping, larger than life stories that intertwine beautifully. If you watched the movie, you missed 90% of the story!

I am driven to read everything Conroy writes. His list of titles is short, but he puts everything he has into each one. He is a true master of his craft.

Summary: A DEEP EXTRAORDINARY NOVEL
Review: Well, I read this book because I needed one novel to analyze for my thesis work, then I discover the extraordinary beauty of the South. Conroy portrays the Wingo`s suffering in an undescriptible way: I never forget this book. And I truly recommended it!!

Summary: Wonderfully Written! Moving and Touching!
Review: I thought this was a wonderful book, especially the way it started out. Right from the prologue i was intrigued and couldn't wait to read the rest. I thought the dialogue was great and very realistic. Tom Wingo was very humorous, i literally laughed out loud. I saw the movie first and enjoyed it very much, but i had no idea how poetic and descriptive the book would be. I loved the little stories, they were inspiring and told the reader something about the Wingo family. I loved how Pat Conroy gave the book a very psychological base, since i love psychology. I assume he must of studied it. I thought that a little more development between Tom and Lowenstein would of been good, because i loved reading of the scenes they were together. The characters in the book were great and there was such realism to the story i almost kept forgetting it was fiction. I thought the rape scene may have been a bit insensitive as a previous reader commented, but maybe it wqas done to make it sound all the more real and horrible. I thought it was good how in the movie tom broke down and cried after telling lowenstein about the rape scene, it seemed as if something more should have been said and done in the book after Tom revealed the incident to Lowenstein. But overall, great book!! I think everyone should read it because it would touch something inside anyone. I am only 16 yrs old, but for now this has just gotten to be the best book i have ever read.

Summary: One of the finest American novels
Review: When people ask me what my favorite novel is, I can't seem to find just one. I feel like a third-grade girl who is asked the name of her best friend. However, "The Prince of Tides" is one of my "best friends". This is not a Southern novel. This is a novel which is given a Southern setting - one which is so wonderfully depicted that I truly wish to visit South Carolina. The focal point of this story is the Wingo family. The horrors, the joys and the life experiences of this family absolutely pull the reader through the entire range of human emotion. This is one book every student should read. In fact, every American should read this book.

Summary: This book is amazing
Review: This is by far the best book I have ever read. I disliked most reading until this year because I have a tough English teacher. He made us read this book but it was amazing. Now I want to read on my own because I so thoroughly enjoyed this book. It could be the best book ever

Summary: This book is complete genius!
Review: I am a devoted reader, and probaly have read more books than I can count. Still, by far my favorite is The Prince of Tides. Conroy is a true poet and a fantastic storyteller. The book will capture any reader, and allow you to drift off into the Wingo's world along the Marshes of South Carolina. I would recommend this one to anyone. Enjoy.....

Summary: This was a very thought provoking book.
Review: This story brought up the taboo subjects of rape, domestic violence, and mental illness and the disastrous results that can occur,if the events are denied and hidden.
