Summary: Great follow-up book!
Review: I loved "In Her Shoes" - I had read "Good in Bed" and enjoyed the author's work so much that I went out and bought "In Her Shoes" and I wasn't disappointed! I just got back from vacation and finished the book in the first 3 days that I was away. Since I thought it would take me much longer to read that was the only book I took along with me. Well, it was one of those I couldn't put down - before I went to bed I read and I read while sitting in the sun, then I finished it in the morning when I woke up early (before everyone else). I'm looking forward to Ms. Weiner's next novel!

Summary: If you liked "Good in Bed" you probably won't like this....
Review: I cannot tell you how dissapointed I was with this novel. I was looking forward to this book and it let me down on ALL levels. It really is not worth your time. Please do not purchase this book just becuase you liked Good in Bed. It is not even in the same league.

Summary: Mediocre...
Review: I have mixed emotions about this book. I read it quickly, and enjoyed the story enough to want to know what was going to happen to the two sisters. Yet, there seemed to be little characterization going on. I wasn't satisfied with anything that happened in the end. A lot of the juicy story seemed to be left out in favor for a quick and easy reconciliation. And it is the type of book that I will forget quickly, unlike Good In Bed by the same author.

Summary: Pretty good follow up
Review: This novel is a pretty good follow up to the excellent book, Good in Bed. While the characters are different, the writing is close to the same caliber. Good in Bed was in my opinion better, but this book is still worth reading. A very interesting look at the lives of two women who are sisters, but completely different people. I felt the book was written with a lot of honesty and creativity. A story about finding yourself.

Summary: So-so
Review: I thought this book was so-so. I had a lot of high hopes at the beginning of this book and thought that towards the end Rose would lose some weight and that Maggie would at the very least join a good AA group. Maggie's alcholism is never spoken of and Rose forgives her sister after sleeping with her boyfriend in a scene that reminds one of a late-night soft-porn movie.

I find it hard to believe that Rose would forgive this type of assault and that Maggie would be so stupid and mean as to do this. I feel that Princeton was thrown in as a diversion and very unbelieveable. Furthermore, the whole grandmother incident was silly. If the father was so weak charactered, you think he'd probably let the grandmother see the children growing up.

Summary: Better than Good In Bed
Review: In Her Shoes is the story of two sisters. Maggie is the great looking younger sister that gets whatever she wants because she looks good. Rose is her smart lawyer that isn't as pretty as her sister. Seems like a pretty simple plot, but the story and characters have depths that are reviled as you read. Both sisters are slightly damaged from the loss of their mother at a young age. The death of their mother is the center of the story and the push for each characters development. A MUST read!

Summary: Average second novel
Review: This book was only average. It's a fun summer read, but it lacks the humor and is just not as well written as Jennifer Weiner's first novel, Good in Bed. If you loved Good in Bed (and who didn't?), then this novel will probably come as a big disappointment. Basically, it's still worth a quick read, but I feel like you have to disassociate it entirely from Good in Bed. In short, do not make comparisons, as Weiner's second effort falls below the very high bar she set with her first novel.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Fun Read, Not Much Substance
Review: I enjoyed Ms. Weiner's first book, Good in Bed, but was a little disappointed with this one.

It was funny in parts but just dragged in other sections. The characters of Rose and Maggie were well drawn out but I couldn't find myself relating to either of them really. I have to say that while I understand why Maggie was portrayed the way she was in the first part of the book, I just couldn't see her changing her ways that drastically. I didn't like her character at all. She didn't come across as realistic. Rose was an okay persona but again, not entirely believable.

While I enjoyed parts of this book, I skimmed others. I agree with some of the other reviewers in that the grandmother and stepmother theme were a little over the top. It just didn't fit.

I will look for future books by this author, but I was glad that I didn't pay for this one.

Summary: Disapointing
Review: How can the author of Good in Bed produce such drivel? I am sorely disapointed with the sophmore release! Nothing grabbed me here, the characters are one dimensional, the plot nearly non- existant, and just generally boring. I did not feel any sympathy for any of these characters nor did I care what happened to them.

If you want to read a good Weiner book, read Good in Bed again!

Summary: Seconds Please!
Review: I feel like I could have written the books that Jennifer Weiner writes! I can relate to the characters and understand what they are going through in the book. In this story, Rose and Maggie Feller are complete opposites. Rose is a lawyer, very organized and responsible, not too stylish, and a little overweight. Maggie is a beautiful sexpot, not responsible at all, can't hold a job, and doesn't like her sister for all the things she is. They do, however, wear the same size shoes and it is the one thing that Rose has style in. She buys expensive shoes and Maggie steals them. This is a great story about the bond between two sisters. The characters are real and relatable. Neither one is perfect, they have issues with family, and they try but can't get along. It's very real and I enjoy the way the Jennifer Weiner writes. It's a must read!
