Rating: Summary: THIS!!!! IS "NOT" ROMANCE Review: I wish I could have given this book Minus 5 Stars!I have to admit that at the beginning of this book I had an inclination to shelf it without finishing it. Now I wish I had. Alex and Sam Parker deserved each other -- both shallow, cold and self serving. This story reflected on what "love is not!" As a women, I resented this story by Danniele Steel. It is hard enough for a women to go through breast cancer without a jerk of a husband to act as Sam did. No excuses, I don't care how many mothers he had die of cancer. So, he falls in love with a "young gorgeous girl" -- before Alex even gets out of the hospital. Is that falling in love -- or just plain lust! Steel doesn't know the difference and if she does, she didn't prove to me in this book. After being abandoned Alex falls "in love" with Brock, the only real person who truly knows what love is. This wasn't love either, just another of Alex's self serving ways. Brock was the only character in the book that had substance and Steel got rid of him "very conveniently." When Alex went back to Sam, she insulted all "womankind." Love didn't prevail here, stupidity did. Some considered this book as reality, well sorry folks, if I wanted nonfiction I would have picked another book. We deal with reality every single day so I don't want to read about it too.
Rating: Summary: Sad, but good! Review: If you like a book which brings on an odd tear this isn't good enough. Every chapter in this book makes you shed a tear abotu Alex and Sam Parker's life. Alex is shocked when a shadow turns up in her yearly mannogram. She is even more shocked when she discovers it is a tumor and has a massectomy. She is sure her life is ruined. After the massectomy, Alex's life begins to fall apart as she struggles though a course of chemotherapy and her marriage breaks down. And each page and every struggle, will bring a tear to your eye.
Rating: Summary: I liked the book a lot, but the ending was disappointing. Review: Once again a DS heroine is rich, successful, beautiful and loved. When she discovers she has breast cancer her whole world is shattered. Her husband refuses to deal with it on any level so she turns to a co-worker (Brock) who cares a great deal about her. Her husband is not only unsupportive, but has an affair to boot. Everything was so believable until the end, when she went back to her husband. If she didn't have a daughter, would she have chosen differently? Inspite of the ending, I thought the way she handled her cancer and the courage she showed were very believable. I'm sure there's a million women out there that would like to meet Brock.
Rating: Summary: good, but somewhat unrealistic Review: Please. How realistic is it that a man who is guarnteed a straight shot to prison, suddenly escapes it with ten years probabtion, gets back with his wife who is supposedly through with cancer, and they all live happily ever after? Now, does that happen in real life? I think not. Life just isn't that way. Lives don't always end happily, and we aren't all glamorous and rich. Even when Alex had no hair from the chemo, she was still desirable to Brock. Please. She wouldn't look that good!
Rating: Summary: unforgetable Review: Steel has a talent of writing books that bring emotion and brings the character to life. I enjoyed the story, beginning to end. The Alex didn't stay with Brock is okay. I felt that although he loved her he had the memory of not supporting his sister. Sam was taken advantage, he was in denial and I strongly believe that he was set-up. I've read other books and they never fail to bring the characters to life. I loved it!
Rating: Summary: Beginning was good.. Review: The beginning of this book was excellent. Steel shows well how illness affects a persons life. I couldn't even put the book down until after she started "recovering." However, the end drags a little. I found myself skimming the last few pages. The book is certainly worth reading, just not one of the best.
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your time with this one! Review: The characters are shallow and the ending is just awful. If you like Danielle Steel read Granny Dan or Zoya instead. They are much much better than this ridiculous farce of a book
Rating: Summary: GIVE ME A BREAK!!! Review: The story is good until the end. I don't think any woman would go back to her husband after the way he treats her - unsupportive, unloving and selfish. I think this is the worst story I've ever read by D.S.
Rating: Summary: Should never have went back to that louse of a spouse. Review: The way he treated her, she should never ever had taken him back. He will always be a coward. She should have stayed with the guy she worked with. He cared about her for better or worse. Her marraige vows were a sham
Rating: Summary: READ IT!! Review: this book it great....the characters are good and its a real page-turner. its about forgiveness and its sweet
