Summary: did the author get stuck?
Review: Although I have only read a few of Ms. Bradfords books, I cant say I was overwhelmed with this book. It seems to me she wrote herself into a corner, and instead of thinking it threw well she went into the supernatural to get threw the book. I liked the story line, but thought the story as a whole wasnt very well thought out.

Summary: A disappointment, to say the least.
Review: As someone who has always looked forward to reading Barbara Taylor Bradford's novels, I was truly disappointed in Love in Another Town. Gone was the wonderful character development, riveting character interactions and vivid description I've always admired in Ms. Bradford's writing. I don't know whether she just finished this one too quickly, or if she is in a slump. I'm hoping that her next one will be up to her usual high caliber.

Summary: sweet little romance for summer reading
Review: Barbara Taylor Bradford's "Love in Another Town" is a lightweight little book to read on a breezy summer afternoon, lying in the hammock. Her story unfolds smoothly, effortlessly, with apt descriptions of people and places; she has a sure touch with realistic dialogue, and a sure knowledge into her characters' hearts.

She swings into the supernatural with the account of a life-changing near-death experience of one of the women. All ends
well as people grow through misfortune, make their choices, find
authentic love and happiness.

Recommended for a couple of carefree summer hours under a big shade tree---lemonade would be good too!

Summary: Dissapointing
Review: Being a fan of Barbara's I was truly dissapointed in this tale of love. As I turned the pages, I was more and more dissapointed, especially by the love scene, which for me, lacked style. I have read "trashy novels" (Mills & Boon) which have more style than this book! After having read "A secret affair", which I loved, I was hoping that "Love in another town" would be as good or better! I will be reading "Angel" next and will be expecting Barbara's usual style!

Summary: Makes you think...
Review: I am a BTB fan but I feel this book was rather basic for her. I liked the story and there were many points that really made me thing and gave me hope for the future. I was disappointed in the length though and wished the story had continued. Overall a good read.

Summary: A Great Short Story
Review: I loved this book because it is a wonderful short story by an author always known for extensive (400+ page) novels. The story is captivating and leaves the reader wanting more! Too bad this was only a short story. It was also a wonderful TV movie!

Summary: one star is too kind
Review: I'd never read any BTB, so decided to give this one a try. Although I scanned through this quite a while ago, I am taking the time to tender these comments, so that others may save their time and money. This book is a perfect example of terrible writing, an improbable plot, two dimensional characters - there is nothing to recommend this piece of fluff. Do all BTB's books have this fairy tale quality? It's a good time killer if you're stuck in an elevator and bored out of your mind...but otherwise, forget it.

Summary: A Strange Little Love Story
Review: It's hard to believe that the same woman who wrote the powerful novels "A Woman of Substance", "Voice of the Heart", "Hold the Dream" and "To Be the Best", to name a few, came out with this book. None of the characters in this novel are driven and hungry for power, prestige and success. (There is still that back-stabbing children theme that has appeared in many of her stories, however.) It's a strange little love story, through and through, one with a novel twist. The hero and heroine turn out to be soulmates, living out their karma. How do they know? Another character has a near-death experience, visits a realm of light, then comes back to tell them so. Miss Bradford was obviously fascinated by a new concept when she wrote this novel. What is wrong with that? Nothing--except that people who are used to reading Barbara Taylor Bradford stories that are the result of lightning, passion and fury will be let down.
