Summary: This was one of her better books.
Review: "The Cottage" was a very good book....I enjoyed it alot. I especially enjoyed the characters and the interactions with the families. Danielle has done an excellent job and I look forward to reading "Sunset in St. Tropez."

Summary: Quick vacation read, implausible plot
Review: A time passer to take with you on a trip, The Cottage was very implausible and I was very put off by Cooper and his lifestyle. I was so turned off by actor Cooper, especially by his affair with wealthy Alex and the 40 year age difference between them. It is unrealistic that Alex would be so dazzled by 70 year old Cooper that she would overlook his affairs with twenty-somethings and his sudden breakups with them. Alex even brushes aside and seems so nonchalant about Cooper's impending possible fatherhood and doesn't understand why Cooper's ex would want to keep the baby. Yet Alex seems to want to have children with Cooper anyway. I liked the secondary plot better with Jimmy and Mark who are much more likeable that I found myself very sympathetic to them. I agree with earlier reviewers that the "instant bonding" between Cooper and his long lost grown daughter was highly unrealistic.

Summary: Another Great One by Danielle Steel
Review: As usual Danielle Steel keeps your attention until the very end again with this book. I really enjoyed reading it. It is about a very rich man who lives on an estate and loves to spend money then he gets in trouble and is about to go bankrupt because he hasn't made a movie in awhile, so he rents out his guest house and one wing of his mansion to two bachelors who have had their own bought of bad luck. The way Danielle brings these three totally different men together and make them friends is heartwarming and keeps you wanting to read more.

Summary: Hollywood Glitz and Glamour on a budget
Review: Cooper Winslow is a movie star that is as big as life. At the age of 70 it has been years since he has been able to get a part that will sustain his wild spending sprees, and grandiose lifestyle. His accountant is about to come up with a solution, and Coop isn't too happy with the lengths he will have to go to save The Cottage, a magnificent mansion that he has called home since his earlier years. As Coop is forced to take in borders the lives of three men become entwined in what will be an interesting as well as productive outcome.

Like all of Steel's books we have a romance or two in the making, and the reader enjoys the emotional impact this imparts. Coop thinks he finds love, and then questions his motive, something new for him after a lifetime of playful young starlets. Jimmy has to find his life again after a tragedy that will never leave him the same, and Mark is dealing with the break up of his family, and the confusion that has become his children's life. The characters are likable, and I found myself rooting for them from time to time. This was a predictable book like most of this author's books yet enjoyable none-the-less. The pleasure was in the journey, and not the expected ending. It was a fun read to end my summer. Kelsana 8/30/02

Summary: So juvenile!
Review: Couldn't stand the character of Cooper Winslow, but more irritating is Ms. Steel's constant repetion of the same adjectives about each character. It's like she's telling us something new about a character that she has already repeated 10 times before on previous pages. Her books are usually predictable and I haven't read the last 2 or 3, but happened to get this one at the library for a "free" read. Die-hard fans of Steel will be happy with it, but if this is someone's first time with one of her books, please don't pick this one....try one of the first 9 or 10.

Summary: No her best book
Review: Danielle Steel - I've been reading her books for over 15 years and probably am now buying each new one out of habit than anything else because it's been quite a few books since I've really enjoyed one of her stories.
I had a few problems with this one. The ageing actor who is so broke he has to rent out areas in his home but still spends like there is no tomorrow. The energetic sexual relationship between 25 plus years old and a 70 year old man (I don't think so - and I think it's pretty gross!). The neonatal nurse who saves premmie babies everyday but things aborotion is ok. The ending I guessed about halfway through - it was so obvious. It just wasn't an entertaining read.
Danielle Steel books used to be so good! A really good romantic story but now it seems she gets started on a book, gets about halfway through and then rushes to the end. Very disappointing.
If you are new to Danielle Steel - I wouldn't recommend this one. Try one of her earlier great books "Thurston House", "Wanderlust" or "Palomino".

Summary: Great Book
Review: Danielle Steel is my favorite author. I have all of her books in hardcover. I just wait for her next one! This was a great book, just like all of her books, my only problem, is that once I start reading her books, I don't want to put them down. I have been known to read way into the wee hours of the morning, and I usually finish her books within 1 to 2 days.
I would recommend this book to all of Danielle Steel fans.

Summary: A Quick Read
Review: Danielle Steel's novel was out of her ordinary in that the main characters were men. It was hard for me to believe that a young beautiful doctor could possibly find a seventy year old self centered has been actor attractive. The plot did carry you along to a desireable ending. Not one of her worst but there have been better. I did enjoy the characters.

Summary: All About Friendship
Review: Danielle Steele is a master artist at slowly piecing a book together, such as one of her better novels, The Cottage. This book consists of amazing characters that are split from the lives they once knew, and later are puzzled back together for a friendly meeting. Each main character, Jimmy, Mark, and Coop, are so different in their personalities but yet so much alike in their experiences. They cry, laugh, and just simply have fun when they are finally together. These three men share many similar situations throughout the novel and in the end, they all meet and talk about those certain happenings in each of their lives. How woman have left, cheated, and even passed away but they dealt with it and moved on. Luckily, they all found each other in their differences and similarities to be best friends. The capturing way Steele writes activates your emotions and slams your reality-way of thinking. She has a "happily-ever-after" touch to her writing and it takes your breathe away. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this selection and would reccomend it to anyone! Danielle Steele is truly a romantic genius.
