Summary: Make sure all your chores are finished before you start this
Review: This book was so good that I started reading it at 6:30, after cooking dinner, and didn't put it down until I read the last line. The 10 pm news was coming on when I finished. I didn't even notice that the main characters hadn't been described. I know so many people like all of the characters, in the book. I was able to place a face with each character. As my husband was driving us through the 5:00 pm traffic, I read the Seduction chapter. Five minutes later, I just had to re-read the chapter aloud to him. We had to laugh because our home town, Little Rock, has the same functions, with all the same characters. The owner of the Hearne's Fine Art Gallery told me, as she recommended the book, that it was a page turner. Palfrey's characters were very realistic. I felt Vivian's pain when Walter brought the baby home. I felt her growing love for Marc. I felt like I was at the festival with them. When Denise LaSalle started singing, I felt Vivian's release. I could see her releasing herself and letting her hair down. The one and only time I felt sorry for Walter was when he had to turn and look at Bobby, after watching the video. I felt that it was the only time that he forgot about all that was at stake and felt sorry for what he had done to Porsche. Even at the hospital, he felt ashamed, not for what he had done to Vivian and everyone else, but how he had allowed everything to get out of control. This is certainly a book worth reading again. Just a note to the author, Vivian is too smart of a woman to, even for a moment, be BS'd by Walter's flowers. Cora's statement about the BS should never had to be spoken. Vivian had resigned herslf long before, to see right through him. Good Job!!!

Summary: Excellent! I could read it a second time and not be bored.
Review: Ms. Palfrey brought an excellent story to life. The book described the relationships of a mother and her child, a woman and her lover, and a wife and her husband. The writing brought to life the emotions and attitudes of all the characters, especially Vivian. Even in her trials, she triumphed.

Summary: one of the best books I have read in several years
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I put myself in her place so many times and don't quite know if I could have handled the situation as great as she did. She was awesome. I loved all of the characters and I loved that they all got what they deserved in the end.

Summary: The Price of Passion -- What is it worth?
Review: Ms. Palfrey has written a wonderful, suspenseful book. The Price of Passion is the story of Vivian Carlson, who has been in a loveless marriage for approximately 20 years. Walter Carlson, is Vivian's unfaithful, politically hungry husband. Vivian's husband gives Vivian a package, another's woman's baby, who has eyes just like Walter's. The baby worms her way into Vivian's life and into her heart.

Everyone knows that Vivian is too good for Walter. Vivian's mother and sister; Walter's cousin, Sherman; Walter's best friend, Bobby Africa; Vivian's friends, Cora and Marc - all are aware. However, what would Vivian do for "The Price of Passion?" Would Vivian surrender the love of the babe, she so desparately wants to keep? Would she give up the friendship of Marc Kline, the journalist and professor? Would she give up fulfilling her dreams of becoming a lawyer, a career she postponed years ago to help Walter further his career? Would Vivian give up her opportunity to be a mother? Would you? What is worth "The Price of Passion?"

Again, Ms. Palfrey has written a wonderful book. I kept turning the pages to uncover the truth and discover just what Vivian would do. The book has some surprising events. It is definitely a page turner.

Summary: Dont let the title fool yah!
Review: I don't know what I was expecting, but boy was I surprised. I love Vivian, the patient, tolerant wife. This is one of Evelyn Palfreys best books. But don't believe me read it for yourself.

Summary: Clever novel by a friend
Review: Evelyn Palfrey is a friend of mine, a very intelligent attorney and resident of Austin, Texas. All attorneys THINK they can write, but Evelyn really CAN! This is a well-planned and delivered story about fictional members of the middle to upper class Austin Black community illustrating family support systems; people in responsible, influential positions; good and not so good solutions to problems; and thoughtful conclusions. I wish Evelyn the best and all success in her future writing.
