Summary: Great Story
Review: I have felt alittle let down in some past books but not this one. I thought this book was excellent!! She led us through this wonderful friendship of three couples... I recommend this book to anyone. The ending was the best, no I won't ruin it for you, but she finally gave us a clear ending.

Summary: This book is a -1
Review: I have to echo the comments of the reviewer from Windsor, ON Canada who said:

"The storyline is totally predictable and very shallow. There is basically no character development and no plot. The editing was terrible as the writing was redundant in many places. It was just not enjoyable reading at all. I cannot believe this was even published. I haven't read Danielle Steele in quite a while and - after reading this - I'm not going to bother with her books in the future. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition."

Please note that I too used to read Danielle Steel and I used to enjoy her books. This "book" should have been condensed into a short story, (which could have been a pleasant little story)but 230 pages of redundancy was just too much.

Summary: HASTE MAKES WASTE
Review: I have usually liked Danielle Steele's books - but this one wasn't worth my time or the money. It seemed to me that she wrote a lot of tripe in a hurry to get something published. I was very disappointed.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: I personally liked it!
Review: I haven't seen such a book with mixed reviews such as this one, so I decided to throw my two cents in for what it is worth. The book follows Danielle Steels usual upper class romance with "famous" characters and plentiful wealth. I enjoyed this book and found it quite humorous and touching. Steel's formulaic characters are starting to get a little old, and I believe she should try something new.

Summary: Not Bad, Not Good....Just Somewhere In The Middle
Review: I only need one word to summarize this book: MEDIOCRE.

This is the first Danielle Steel book I've read, and I'm hoping that this book is not indicative of her story-telling abilities. I felt a sense of apathy about the novel's storyline and characters from the very first page to the last page. None of the characters are likeable, the dilemmas that they face are of very little consequence, and the dialogue is largely dry and uninteresting. There's absolutely nothing dramatic or compelling within these pages. On the plus side, there's enough material here to keep the reader from wanting to abandon this book without finishing it, though it isn't necessary to complete the book in order to figure out how the story will conclude. The ending was annoyingly predictable.

The story kept me mildly entertained for the six hours that it took me to read, though I felt nothing but numb and dispassion after I was done. This is a novel I will soon forget.

Summary: A great summer read
Review: I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick read for me, and I thought the characters had a great deal of depth to them. However, I thought the storyline was a bit predictable and the ending seemed a bit rushed.

I have noticed this in the last few of Ms. Steel books that I have read. Maybe she, and other authors, need to quit trying to pump books out, and concentrate on writing one really good novel every year or so. But, that is just my opinion.

I would recommend this book for anyone looking for a great book to take on vacation!!

Summary: I thought it was cute!
Review: I thought this was a cute story. I mean, it was sad, but had it's funny points. It was light summer reading. I know it had many bad reviews, but my recommendation would be to read what it's about and if you're interested, try it & if you don't like it, put it down.
I think for Danielle Steel fans, it's one of her better new novels.

Summary: A Joyful Book
Review: I truly loved reading this book. I have heard so much about Danielle Steel books and thought I would give it a try with this book and it was a complete joy to read... It was so quick and easy to read I loved the characters it would be wonderful to see if there is a follow up to this book to see what happens after pascale has her baby.... I will never forget this book I think this book is going to make me a big fan of Danielle Steel for years to come... Only takes a day or two to read it and find out if you are going to enjoy the wonderful writing style of a wonderful lady...

Summary: Awful!
Review: I was looking for a nice little romance to escape with and I was in O'Hare airport with nothing much to do. I saw this on the shelf & that this author had sold hundreds of millions of books. I figured that many people couldn't be wrong. Hmm.

The first thing that turned me off right away was that there was a character with the same first name as mine. Unfortunately, this character fares extremely poorly in the book. I suppose it's not really fair of me to dislike the book for that. I mean the character who does worst in the book has to have some name, but I just couldn't let it go. So much for escape from my own problems.

Another thing that annoyed me was that one of the characters was characterized as a "superior court judge" in New York City. Now, if you know anything about law in New York, you know that there is no such position in New York State. The position that corresponds to "superior court judge" in other states is called "supreme court justice" here. (The court that we have that would be called "supreme court" in other states is called "court of appeals.") Why does New York have to be different like this? Who knows? But then everyone always knew New York was different from the rest of the coutnry. Now you may say that this is a petty point, but it seems to me that, if you're an author with a big following and you know you might have yet another best-selling book and you know a lot of your book is going to be set in New York City, you could bother to research these things just a tad just so, in case some of your readers ever go looking for a court in New York City, they might end up in the right place.

Now sitting back from my personal vendetta, I have to say that it was a light and easy read, so I suppose I got a bit of an escape from it. The reading level here is probably barely fifth grade. The characters were pretty well developed, using short, uncomplicated sentences. There weren't any complicated concepts here. I would say Harry Potter is probably a more challenging read. Still, the thing kept my attention, mostly because it was short and I just sailed on through.

It was nice that the characters were happy, older people. It's nice to see a romance where everyone isn't a kid.

I found the ending abrupt and contrived, but, fortunately, happy.

I don't know if I would get another book by this author... maybe in a pinch, in an airport, if I'm desperate. But I would certainly look for alternatives.
