Rating: Summary: Can You Go Back? Review: Anne Rivers Siddons, the author of Outer Banks is comfortable explaining the southern soul, but she also understands the depth of friendships that develop during a young woman's formative years. Many of us can remember the deep friendships we formed when away at college for the first time. We often look at these friendships with idealism and nostalgia. Kate who is fighting a battle with cancer is asked to attend a reunion with her three closest college friends, Cecie, Ginger and Fig. Kate is unsure that she wants to return or see these friends again. There was a time when she loved them dearly, but that time is long past and betrayals bridge that gap. Siddons presents a book in which things are not what they seem . There are numerous deceptions and undercurrents beneath the surface of the happy reunion. Each participate has developed their own agenda and their perception of their happy college life differs vastly. The setting of the outer banks is intriguing and the reader feels the attraction of the sun and ocean. Soon the reader also begins to feel the compelling and seductive force of the waves and is effect on the lives of those of the shore dwellers. I highly recommend this book to those who enjoy stories about complex relationships

Rating: Summary: my review Review: Another great succes from Anne Rivers Siddons. This time she mixes four girls from different backgrounds, who decide to meet after almost 30 years since they were together. What happens to them? Only this author has the style to make you live their anxiety at meeting again. She makes you understand that everybody in life goes through changes that affect your personality and your future. She makes every character a real-life one, with good things and, sometimes, with mostly bad things! This plot and the place it is set in is a great combination. Kuddos to the author!
Rating: Summary: Outer Banks is a masterpiece Review: First of all I'd like to say that I'm spanish, so my english is not very good, but I think that is posible to express my point of view about Outer Banks, I finished to read, today and right now I'm sad, because I was very envolved in that atmosphere and I'll gonna miss the story, I loved his book, and I think that Anne Rivers Siddons have a wonderfull talent and she made me think about to much things and she specially made me smile and cry at the same time, so I would like to congratulation you, MRS. Anne Rivers Siddons. Stella Garcia
Rating: Summary: Gimme a Break Review: How can the publisher call Kate and Fig friends? Kate was mean to Fig. She did not behave in a friendly manner at all. I think Kate was a stuck-up wench and a spoiled brat. But then, Fig was not much better. Siddons did not develop any of the characters well either. We lose Cecie for hundreds of pages, and then catch up on her whole post-college life in two sentences. I have read other Siddons books, and I must say, this one was deeply disappointing.
Rating: Summary: Very disappointed in the ending. Review: I am a big fan of Anne Rivers Siddons. "Fault Lines" is one of my all time favorite books, the one that got me hooked on her. I loved the way "Outer Banks" started and carried out the plot. I thought the characters were well developed..until the end. The entire book came to it's unrealistic conclusion in about 10 pages with many unanswered questions. If CeCe could only leave Vinnie's mother for 3 more days, how could she stay at Kate's for weeks? Who shot Fig, Kate or CeCe? And Alan seemed pretty happy even though his wife cheated on him. This was the worst Siddons book I have read. I am still a fan, and will read more, because I know she is capable of much better!
Rating: Summary: Outer Banks is a masterpiece. Review: I am an avid reader and this book is by far my favorite novel. I have re-read it several times and always find new pleasure in it. This is the first and only book that I have read by Anne Rivers Siddons and I look forward to reading more of her works. I identified with this book on so many different levels. Outer Banks was a sweet and poignant tale of young girls that we get to know all over again in their middle years. It is a riveting story that I have recommended to all of my close friends.
Rating: Summary: This is Siddons very best! Review: I have read all of Siddons books, and Outer Banks is still my favorite, by far. I couldn't put it down and was thrilled to encounter the twisted, yet exciting, ending. I also highly recommend Fault Lines.
Rating: Summary: Rave review for Outer Banks! Review: I have read Outer Banks at least 15 times and have enjoyed it every time. It is the most beautifully written book I believe I have ever read. The descriptive prose made me feel like I was right there on the Outer Banks of South Carolina.
Rating: Summary: Simply wonderful Review: I love the way Siddons' characters twist at the end of the stories. This one was especially great, the way the main character freed herself from years of baggage by confronting what she thought was real, only to find one (exlover) was two dimensional, and one (Fig) four dimensional
