Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: Another New York Times bestseller. I have been a long-time reader of Ms. Michaels' books and have never been disappointed. Keep up the good writing. Can't wait for the next one!
Rating: Summary: What a Story! Review: The author's great talent once again dazzles readers. Logan was the kind of person you loved to hate and I delighted in the end when he was reduced to exactly what he was...nothing. This is another one of Ms. Michaels' books that you won't want to miss. I guarantee you will enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: Is ANYONE this COCKY? Review: I was hoping for a better read than what I got. I found it hard to believe that anyone could be as cocky as Logan, as self-sacrificing as Kristine or as sit back and wait as Woody. It just wasn't a believeable book to me, while it should have been. The plot had potential, the characters just didn't pan out.
Rating: Summary: A page turner! Review: As a military brat and then a military wife, I could relate one hundred percent to this story. I enjoyed it from the first to the last page and read it in two days. The descriptions were so real that I could envision them.I hated Logan and couldn't wait for him to get it. I actually cheered. I liked the way Kristine grew into the woman she was at the end and of course, I enjoyed Woodie and the vet. The dog scenes were hilarious. Thanks for a wonderful read!Terry
Rating: Summary: Best of the best! Review: I fell in love with this story. I thought the realism was fantastic. The characters were finely drawn, the locations were places I could "see". I think I felt every emotion there was. I hated to see it end. However, I know a new book is coming soon. Wonderful story. Louise Delay
Rating: Summary: Poorly written and neverending... Review: This book really had the potential to be a good one, but the author didn't make it easy to relate to the characters. All of the conversations that took place within the book were very shallow and sometimes laughable. Overall, I thought it was poorly written and I thought it would never end.
Rating: Summary: Superior Read Review: Reading this book was like visiting with old friends, the kind you invite into your home and the kind you don't want to leave. I didn't want the book to end. I enjoyed seeing Kristine grow in character, loved Woodie and his insight and the true to life kids boggled my mind. Very, very real and easy to relate to. I absolutely fell in love with the animals. Super, super book!
Rating: Summary: NEW YORK TIMES BEST-SELLING AUTHOR? Review: I must admit I got sucked into buying this book by the blurb at the top about New York Times Bestseller. I don't believe it! Talk about a book based on nothing but dialog. Never do you see beneath the spoken word to any kind of real people below the surface. I quit. I don't even care enough to find out what happened to Logan.
Rating: Summary: Not one of Fern Michaels' best! Review: This book had the potential to be very interesting, but the dialogue throughout seemed really fake. It was almost uncomfortable reading parts of it because you know that people would not interact that way in real life. If you're a big Fern Michaels fan, pick another book and skip this one!
Rating: Summary: Horrid: Mindnumbing, Sub-Sub-Poorly Written, Amazingly Awful Review: Let's start with a word count from the six sentences of this not-at-all-novel. Frequency of the word 'body' or derivations thereof: 4. While repitition is a valid and oft-used literary technique, the style of the remainder of Michaels's (Mary Ruth Kuczkir) text indicates that she is simply a very -- very, very, very, very, as she might say -- bad writer. How bad? Worse than Danielle Steel, worse than the woman who wrote the romance novel involving the Amish (don't ask), worse than a single postcoital bonobo typing on a rusty Smith-Corona after what Michaels would undoubtedly call a 'marathon session.' Frequency of throwing manuscript across the room (first chapter only): > 4, possibly as many as twelve. And don't tell me that I can't appreciate a good story; I can. Even a poorly written but well-plotted book can hold my attention. Nobody could write in a style justifying this plot. It's absurd, all of it. Anyone who claims that this is good - or even 'not incredibly bad' - is either a) a bored housefrau, b) approaching said bonobo in terms of cerebral efficacy, or c) . . . well, that's about it. A waste of resources, human and otherwise.
