Rating: Summary: Read only if you enjoy stories of weak, cheating women Review: I have read only 1 other Danielle Steel novel, which was The Gift, a novel that I thoroughly enjoyed. I have read many romance novels, but this is by far the WORST one ever! Kate is a woman with so much potential and such a wonderful sense of independence, not to mention the fact that she is beautiful and educated. I fell in love with her personality and wit from the first few pages of the novel. Joe, on the other hand, is an egotistical maniac who cares for nothing but himself throughout the whole book. Kate is so weak and stupid to put up with that relationship. I would have packed my bags a long time ago and left him, not cry and make him feel guilty so he would come home to see me. Who wants someone that you have to beg to love you and spend time with you? Is this what dreams are made of, Ms. Steel? I certainly do not agree. What this author did was take a beautiful, young woman with a wonderful heart and spirit and wear her down, bit by bit, until there's nothing left but a weak, whining woman who can't stand up for herself or fight for her own happiness. Even in the end when they're together, it's on his terms. And her cheating on that wonderful husband Andy of hers was absolutely horrific. This novel definitely had no happy ending. It will be the last DS novel I read.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous ending! Review: Though young and definitely not your typical couple in the time, Kate and Joe are destined to be together, their love is strong enough to conquer anything. But will they realize it? And will it be too late? Kate grows up in to a strong young woman in this book, all the while loving the same man. But will it be enough for him? For her? Filled with history and romance, Danielle Steel does it again, keeping me chained to the chair turning page after page. You will love this book!
Rating: Summary: OVER AND OVER AND OVER Review: How can she say the same thing over and over, and still get us to read her books?? She needs to go back to writing school and learn about plot development. When she gives the whole story away in the first chapter, who cares what else happens? And character development, she tells us about them, but doesn't develop them any further. I used to like D.S. but I think I'm about to give up on her!!
Rating: Summary: IS THIS WHAT WOMEN DREAM ABOUT? Review: I was really disappointed in this novel by one of the best-selling writers of our time. I kept waiting for the characters to grow and get some depth. The woman, Kate, was a seventeen year old bright shining star when the story began. I kept waiting for her to get a grip and get rid of Joe, who was a selfish self-centered baby who wouldn't commit (and god forbid he get some help for that!) For example, on page 380 it was STILL HER FAULT. "She thought constantly about what had happened to them, trying to understand her part in it...and in time she could see how her reaching out and wanting more time with him had panicked him." YUK! Kate's life was really depressing, waiting for Joe to come home and throw her a bone once in a while. It wasn't another woman, but his obsession with his airplanes. I had hoped that the book would have Kate making some healthy choices. She showed such promise at the beginning...
Rating: Summary: A Magnificient Gold Mine Review: I absolutely love this book. Danielle Steel really out done herself this time. I felt the characters were perfectly balanced and as well it kept your interest. I almost stop liking Danielle Steel books but she redeemed herself with this one. Excellent Job
Rating: Summary: Doesn't soar, it sinks! Review: When you pick up a Danielle Steele book you pretty much know what lies ahead. There's a girl, not just any girl, but one with something special. And there's man, noy just any man, but a man who has hidden depths. More likely than not, they have had a history of great attraction, and great misunderstanding, leaving them scarred and afraid to love. Well, this book follows that formula, but badly. When you meet Kate Jamison you admire her spunk, her independence. And when Joe Allbright, the young protege of Charles Lindbergh, enters the picture, the story starts to move. However these two characters are so annoying, and so selfish. It is hard to really feel any pull towards their story. It wears you out, repeating the same old patterns over and over and over ad nauseum. It covers about two decades, moving through WWII and the flying boom that follows. There are marriages and divorces, children, and heartbreak. In the end, you don't care what these two main characters decide to do... you just want the book to end.
Rating: Summary: Typical, predictable BORING DS Review: Once again, Danielle Steele cranks out a boring, predictible book about a rich, young girl and an older man and their stupid choices and foolish mistakes (and they were supposedly such smart, worldly people) until they come together again and almost live happily ever after. I could barely get through the first couple of chapters. Then I just skimmed the remainer and realized same story, different names. Save your money and borrow it from the library!! I will never again waste my money on Danielle Steel!! I would have gave this book zero stars if I could!!
Rating: Summary: Repeating Eagle Review: The story is good, but she repeats the same information over and over again. This book could have been ten chapters shorter and been a great book. I can't beleive she got Lone Eagle published!
Rating: Summary: Oh my heavens!! Review: This book is one I cannot stop reading, well listening to. I drive 45 min each way to work, and I have the abridged version on CD, since I can't get it unabridged on CD, and I am now in the process of listening to it for the second time. I just love these two characters. I feel that they are like Cassie and Nick, I believe it was in Wings, which is my favorite DS book. I am a person who enjoys more historic books then present and I just love this one. I mean I have read most of DS books, I just have not read House on Hope Street and I will read that as soon as I can. Oh and do believe me I will be picking up Lone Eagle when it comes out in paperback to read the whole thing. I wait for the paperback only because they are easier to read while sitting in my bed. Thank you DS for giving us the literature that you continue to bestow upon us.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant Review: As a long time male fan of Danielle Steel I must admit Lone Star is probably the greatest piece of romance literature I have ever read. I also wanted to add if there are any ladies interested in discussing such literature with me feel free to e-mail me at simiansnak@aol.com
