Rating: Summary: Forget It Review: This is the most trite, insipid book I have ever read. The characters were so incredibly shallow that by the time I got 3/4 of the way through I quit. I knew Joe died from the very beginning, so why waste my time reading the rest of it.
Rating: Summary: Slow and Boring! Review: I have read all of Danielle Steel's books and this by far is her worst. The last 5 or so have not been up to her scale as when she first started doing novels..How disappointing it is not to like her book. Danielle go back and read your first few novels and take some lessons. I will not purchase anymore of her books.
Rating: Summary: One of the best she has written in a while. Review: I am a loyal Danielle Steel fan, but even I will admit that some of the books have been less than I hoped for lately. This one is, however, the exception. I could not put this book down. If you are a true fan, this book will not disappoint you. Enjoy.
Rating: Summary: here we go again Review: Here we go again -- another story of fornication, adultry, divorce, and convenient accidents and deaths. Get real Danielle. Maybe these things happen in your world, but some of us don't sleep with a guy just because we care about him. And some of us hold marriage sacred and stick with it even though it might not be full of passion and fire works. And most importantly, some of us don't cheat on our mates just because we think we might have made a mistake in marrying them. If Joe couldn't settle down and make a committment in all those years Kate was single, why would he now that she's married and has a child? Especially since he says he never wants children. And as soon as her perfectly fine, responsible and devoted husband leaves, Kate lets Joe move in???? What kind of morals are that? I can't respect a guy that moves in with a married women and her infant. Nor can I respect a character who ditches a husband for a guy who has proved incapable of making a committment. Sorry, but I was rooting for Andy all the way.
Rating: Summary: From a devoted D.S. fan Review: I've read quite a few of the reviews, and I'm going to sum it up for you... I've read every Danielle Steel book written, most of them several times. I, like so many others writing reviews, recognize that her writing is not quite what it used to be. And, like most of the other reviews, I was a little disappointed. I don't think I could ever write off Danielle Steel, however, this does not reflect her true writing talent. Kate reminded me of myself, and when she meets Joe, I like him. She is in love with him, the problem is, the book never quite answers the question about how Joe feels about Kate. And unfortunately, she takes the role of "my love is enough for both of us". Bad move. She ends up basically wasting her whole life waiting for him to return her affections, and even when she thinks he does, you don't believe he truly loves her. When you think she truly is happy with another man (who is so open and loving) she ruins it for a roll in the hay. What a disappointment. Even I knew to leave a relationship when it became clear he wasn't going to commit! By the end of the book, I held Joe in total disgust and no longer felt sorry for Kate. If she was stupid enough to waste her life away, who am I to feel sorry for her.
Rating: Summary: Just finished it! Review: This was one of Danielle Steeles' best novels. How appropriate for it to be released the same time that Pearl Harbor came out, being that it is based around WWII. I couldn't put the book down.
Rating: Summary: Lone Eagle Review: It was an intriguing book to read kept me turning the pages. As always Danielle writes excellent books. This one in particular was one that didn't have the outcome I expected but it was an enjoyable book much like a roller coaster you never knew what to expect. Once you thought you had the book figured out the characters take totally different turns.
Rating: Summary: Danielle is slipping Review: I've noticed in the past 2 years that Danielle Steel's books are slipping. It's taking me forever to continue reading this book. I find myself putting it down. That never happened in the 1980's and 90's. Her books were gold. My husband used to joke that I would get one of her books and pretty much finish it in 1 day, 2 the most. Now her books are not written as well as they used to be. I think the last good book I read of hers was The Wedding and Bittersweet. I have continued to buy her books (up to date) hoping they would be like they were in the past, but they're not. I don't know why her writing has changed or maybe she's putting too many books out too fast.I miss the old Danielle Steel writing.
Rating: Summary: Big Waste of Time Review: After finishing two recent releases by LuAnne Rice and Kristen Hannah I have decided after reading Lone Eagle that I will never waste another moment of my time reading another Danielle Steel novel again. The characters in this book were the most unlikeable duo I have ever encountered in a story line. By the time this book finally ended I couldn't believe Danielle Steel can continue to embarass herself with these ridiculous novels. Your time would be better spent reading a book with "real" characters and interesting storylines.
Rating: Summary: Fly Away Already! Review: I read romance novels for fun and escape not for a great literary experience. This novel is one of Danielle Steel's worst. The writing is so basic that at times it sounds like it was written by a 10 year old. There is absolutly no depth to these characters. At the begining of this novel you really want these two to be together but by the end I found Joe very dislikable and wished he'd just leave Kate alone. How many times can you be burned before you learn not to touch fire? Most of this novel takes place during the first 15-20 years of their relationship and then all of a sudden at the end of a page Ms. Steel skips ahead 17 years??? We totally are ripped off of the supposed happy ending. However I don't think I could have stood another chapter of this book but maybe I would have liked Joe more. Read at your own risk.
