Summary: What A Bummer!!
Review: I didn't like Three Wishes, the ending was a big let down, a real bummer, so much so that it really annoyed me! No I don't expect a perfect fary tale romance but I do prefer a romance story to have a happier more satisfying ending not a depressing one! The only good thing about this audio cassette is that the reader is Amy Brenneman from the TV show Judging Amy, because she has a really nice, pleasant sounding voice, but that's not enough to make up for the depressing story!

Summary: Not great, not horrible
Review: This was the first book I've read by Barbara Delinsky, on a recommendation of a co-worker. I thought the beginning was slow going, and found that some of her wording throughout the book was a bit redundent, (I've never seen the phrase What with used so many times in one book). Maybe thats just being nitpicky, but I found it to be a bit dull.
As for the characters, did anyone else want Jane or Bree to punch Dotty right in the face. I mean, that lady was just evil! It was very unsatisfying for me when Verity finally dropped off her baby gift for Tom, and was made to leave the house by Dotty. Someone should have told that woman wher to go. I also had Julia figured out during her talk with Tom in the garden.
The ending did make me cry, how could it not? But I'm not sure I would try another one of her books for a while. I think I need something really funny to bring me back up.

Summary: Frustrating
Review: I've read most of Delinsky's books and loved them all. This one was a disappointing surprise. I didn't even finish it till the last page. If you like Barbara's books to escape from reality for a while, run away from this book. It will only remind you that life sometimes is just a bad joke.

Summary: I WISH THE ENDING WAS AS GOOD AS THE BEGINNING AND MIDDLE-
Review: This is the first book by Barbara Delinsky that I have read. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters in the diner and she made the reading enjoyable from the first page. My only complaint with the book is the way it ended. I felt like it was a soap opera ending that was not the same quality as the rest of the story. I can already hear people saying, "Where's your imagination, it's fiction?!?" I feel that she cheated us at the end for the sake of shock value. This would not, however, stop me from reading any of her other works. I enjoyed the characters, and some reminded me of the kind that Jan Karon has in her books, and some of the characters from the Andy Griffith TV series.

Summary: A Touching Departure
Review: THREE WISHES is something of a departure for Barbara Delinsky, whose books tend to be reality-based. WISHES, however, has a mystical element which would be no more than hokey in the hands of a lesser author. Yet in Ms. Delinsky's capable fashion, the metaphysical transcends the woo-woo and, ultimately, this story becomes extremely moving. Along the way, she has created a subtext which explores the non-tangible gifts offered by life; her conclusion is that love is all-important. Delinsky has a marvelous imagination and excellent story-telling skills, which is why this book works.

Summary: Great, Great book
Review: This is the first book of Barbara Delinsky's I have ever read and now I'm wondering why! This was an excellent book! Even though I pretty much had a feeling of what was to happen at the end of the book I was shocked how I sobbed. Even though the ending was sad I thought it was also hopeful because of the family reconciliations and the fact that life goes on and even after a death people can still find happiness.

Summary: Love for always
Review: This book is one that seems to find the way into a woman's heart at a low time in their life. It brings, joy, sadness, love, tenderness and romance all at one time. As you read the book you know what is going to happen but Barbara Delinsky has a way to hold you captive and you are caught up in the lives of the characters. This book is fabulous and we have passed this all around the office - tears - yes, joy - yes, sadness - yes - and only wishing one can be loved so much - a MUST READ

Summary: Why O Why?
Review: Such a good book.....I read the Reader's Digest condensed version and as I was reading, I wanted to run out and buy the book so I could enjoy all of it. BUT....I can't believe Barbara ended the book as she did. Why O Why didn't she give it a happy ending? I cried so much I could hardly finish. I had to take one star away because of the ending. But if anyone enjoys second chances and tear-jerkers, this is the book for them. Wonderfully written. I am sure I will read more of Barbara Delinsky......I might check the ending first though ;)
