Rating: Summary: Total Fun Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is very funny and light. The criticisms I have read here, of this book, are perplexing to me. This book is not meant to be taken seriously- some of these readers need to get a life. While this novel did not actually comment on motherhood as much as I thought it would- I loved reading it for its humorous characters and cute, surprise ending.
Rating: Summary: worst book I've read in a long time!! Review: I was extremely disappointed in this book, expecting much more after reading the glowing reviews written by other readers (you actually liked this drivel??!!). I did not find it funny, nor did I think it accurately portrayed motherhood. For one thing, I could never figure out how old the main character's daughter was supposed to be...one minute she was 6 months old, the next she's eating raw carrots and walking! What gives?! And, while I understand this is supposed to be a work of fiction, I thought the characters were all too odd and fantastical for anyone living in the real world to relate to. Who actually acts like these people or does the things they do? Nobody that I've ever met! Basically, I felt that the best part of this book was the pink ribbon that was attached!!
Rating: Summary: Now I get it! Review: If ever a statement was more true, Motherhood Made a Man Out of Me is it! I enjoyed this hilarious novel about the anxieties of pregnancy, the fears of labor and birth, and the joys and trials of being a mother. And while this book may be perfect for mothers who have "been there, done that", I believe anyone, mother or not, who enjoys a good, funny story with nice surprises at the end will love this book.Brooke is a new mother of 6-month-old Stella when she finds out her best friend, Mary Rose, is pregnant. Mary Rose, a successful landscaper and very independent, single woman, has the typical fears that most mothers-to-be experience. And while being in love with and pregnant by Brooke's cousin, Ward Baron, doesn't seem like such a bad idea, having the bizarre, wealthy, pretentious Baron clan as in-laws and grandparents is another thing all together. Sparks fly throughout the pregnancy regarding marriage, parenthood and grandparents' rights and culminate with a delicious twist at the end. Looking for laughs? This book will provide! Motherhood Made a Man Out of Me is a gem, loaded with priceless wisecracks and situations that will have readers rolling. You don't have to be a mother to enjoy this book. Any reader who loves to laugh will definitely be entertained. Highly recommended for a light, fun read or to lift a blue mood.

Rating: Summary: A mother and reader Review: Karen Karbo captures exactly what it's like to be a new mother - everything from the way you rush home to your baby as if you have a secret lover, to the way you mourn for your old, unencumbered self. And she does all of this while making you laugh.
Rating: Summary: Very funny, very real... Review: On the verge of 30, married, and childless (for now), I thought this book would be something I would like. My instinct was correct!! This is a great book both for women who don't yet have any children (but are considering it) and for women who are just starting a family. (You will know what I mean once you start reading it!) I laughed and laughed. This read goes fast and is guaranteed to keep you guessing and smiling all the way through.

Rating: Summary: Hilarious and Accurate Portrayal Review: The title should be your first clue that this book is a hilarious look at motherhood and marriage. Kanbo has perfectly rendered the addled stupor of the exhausted mother, the new father who thinks time with his own child is "babysitting", the bizarre conversations one has with rabid gamers, and the depths of true friendship in "the Motherhood." If you haven't had four babies in five years, raised three of them to be gaming teens, found the friendship of other mothers your lifeline - you just might not see the humor in this gem. I did, and do.
Rating: Summary: I absolutely LOVE this book! Review: This book CRACKED me up. I haven't laughed so hard in ages. This was a real treat and I think that author Karen Karbo is a brilliant comedian and storyteller. Her ability to turn this genre of literature into something to touching and laughable is a true testament to her talent and hard work. I loved everything about this book and read it in a single sitting. I think that any female who wants, has or yearns to be a mother can identify with this book and story. It's a remarkable tale and a great book. I loved it. I can't rave about it enough. Read it...Read it now.
Rating: Summary: Good read, but a little overdramatic and inaccurate Review: This is a good book, but it's a little overdramatic. As a mother, some parts just did not ring true. While the author explains with great precision many medical terms and procedures related to pregnancy, sometimes to the point of distracting from the story at hand. she has a major mistake in the length of Rose Marie's pregnancy. The two children have birthdays two weeks apart? It doesn't add up. But the characters are well drawn and the story has good twists, so overall it was enjoyable.
