Summary: I Was Hoping for More
Review: A few weeks ago I read Mary Kay Andrews' Savannah Blues and really enjoyed it, so I thought that I'd give Little Bitty Lies a try. The reviews that I read at Amazon pretty much said that it's okay but not as good as Savannah. And that pretty much hits it.

Lies is the story of Mary Bliss McGowan, an Atlanta yuppie who doesn't realise that her marriage is in trouble until the night she finds a note from her husband telling her that he's gone - with all their joint assets. Mary Bliss responds by telling one 'little bitty lie' - that he's just out of town. The one little lie escalates until she and her best friend end up faking his death to collect the insurance.

Andrews [who is really Atlanta author Kathy Trocheck] does a great job catching the Atlanta/Southern ambience, but it's hard to see Mary Bliss as a sympathetic character when she lies to her daughter and mother-in-law about her husband's death and when her major concern with the end of her marriage is financial.

I'm giving this one a C and hope that Ms Andrews will slow down and do better preparation before she writes her next one.

Summary: Better than the Blues
Review: A terrific read. I thoroughly enjoyed Savannah Blues, but I must admit that Little Bitty Lies is better. I try not to purchase too many hardcover books because of the price, but Mary Kay Andrews is definitely on my hardcover book list. It was worth every penny, a delightful read. I plan to try the Chicken Salad recipe for my next party. I cannot wait for her next book. Whether she's writing as Kathy Hogan Trocheck or Mary Kay Andrews, this lady is one HECK of a talent. Thank you for the hours of enjoyment with Callahan Garrity and your lovely Southern ladies.

Summary: Suprisingly addictive!!
Review: I am a 17 year old girl from NYC and I happened to find "little Bitty Lies" lying around my house so I decided to read it, not expecting a good book, but i was pleasantly surprised! I really enjoyed reading it even though some of the characters were annoying, take Matt Hayslip for instance, I mean he really got on my nerves and so did Mary Bliss at times but Matt Hayslip was the worst!! He was such a stalker, and he drove me crazy!! The whole story with Mary Bliss's daughter Erin and the sex and all was probably one of the most interesting parts of the book, maybe it's because I like Erin am 17... I could relate to the way she felt towards her mother, but the most entertaining person in the book was Katherine, she cracked me up!! I really grew to love Charlie, Katherine seems like such a lucky woman, to have such a great husband even though he cheated on her, he still seems genuinely nice. I was dissappointed that we didn't read about Katherine and Charlies son Chip that much in the book because he sounded like a very interesting person, but still either way we had Erin and Josh who also seemed so sweet and I cracked up from a lot of the things I read in the book!! I had soo much fun reading this book it's unbelievable!! I loved the whole southern drawl thing, I guess being a NY city girl it was fun reading about the whole southern thing!!! Chicken salad, the expressions, I LOVED it!! Wow what a book!! Not the greatest book in the world but highly entertaining!! Teenagers and adults would love it!!

Summary: Not as good as "Savannah Blues," but still a great read!!
Review: I could not put down "Savannah Blues." Wondeful first novel from this fine author. Something about "Little Bitty Lies" was disappointing, though. Does anybody know why Andrews felt the needs to use so many product names in her first book??? (i.e., KitchenAid, Lilly Pulitzer, etc.) I wondered if she was getting paid for these endorsements. The story of "Lies" is wonderful, but I don't think we want to get to know Mary Bliss the way we wanted to get to know Weezie (in "Savannah Blues.") I am looking forward to her next one. I hope she returns to the coast for her setting!

Summary: A Stunning Disappointment
Review: I had eagerly anticipated this book after reading Savannah Blues, which I loved. This one turned out to be a disappointment. The characters are shallow and not believeable, the plot even less believable. The laugh out loud humor in her previous book was missing in this one.

Summary: Every married woman SHOULD READ . . .
Review: I had read Savannah Blues and enjoyed~~so I had no hesitation in picking up Little Bitty Lies. Wonderful, wonderful read! The plot kept me turning the pages. The book was humorous at times as well as thought provoking~~married women must pay attention to the financial details in their household~~never assume the spouse is always dealing straight with you. How the wife deals with everything will have you up til 2am finishing this book! This author is one to recommend and the book a keeper! I know I'm looking forward to the author's next book: "Hissy Fit" coming out in September!!!

Summary: Mixture of sex and chicken salad
Review: I LOVED this book. Mary Kay Andrews is bound to hit to bestseller list and perhaps this is the book that will do it for her. Little Bitty Lies reads very quickly, and that was because I found it difficult to stop reading before I finished it. Mary Bliss and Katherine are wonderful characters, and show friendship at its finest. I wanted to slap Erin, slug Parker and smooch Matt, all great characters. The book has sex, love, friendship, money, humor in addition to a great chicken salad recipe (and yes, I've tried it, and it's super). A fast, fun, frolicky read that is a perfect summer book. Another winner from Mary Kay Andrews. Keep 'em coming, Mary Kay! Eager readers everywhere will be panting waiting for your next one.

Summary: a nice surprise
Review: I picked this book up by mistake, and truly enjoyed it. I have recently moved from North Carolina to Chicago, and felt Mary Kay Andrews brought "The South" to "The Windy City". This is a great book for summertime reading, and it made me smile. It is about friendship, marriage and finding oneself. Pick it up and enjoy the read.
