Rating: Summary: Yawn!!!! Review: This is the first Danielle Steel book I have read, and I was looking forward to it based on her reputation. Was it boring and repetitive. I agree that the first half could have fitted into one chapter. It was so predictable. Everytime Meredith was free, Steve was working and vise versa. I had to force myself to finish it to see if it got any better.
Rating: Summary: WHAT'S GONNA BE, GONNA BE Review: DANIELLE STEEL nobody does it the way you do--but oh how they try. You did not get your 40+ best seller without due diligence. I want to thank you for creating the heroines that I love to LOVE. NOW, we all know that Steve should have taken his behinds on out to California with Meredith when he first insisted that she take the job--to make all that big money that she willingly shared with him--when he was making only pennies. He knew his wife was faithful but she was also human. He delilberately pretended that he could not do what any other devoted spouse would have done, and that was to accept employment in his field with the first hospital that offered him a position after his big job offer failed-- so he could be with his wife. But no, he claimed he could only accept employment that would have resulted in a promotion for him. Well, he got just what he deserved. Meredith finally gave in to her emotions and so did he--results, divorce. That will teach men that they cannot have one set of rules for themselves and another for the women in their lives. DANIELLE, like all your love stories, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Cal was just too much of what Meredith needed and vice-versa, they were destined to fall in love and live happily ever after. DANIELLE STEEL, keep on spiting out your books as your stories take us where we cannot go ourselves--but get there nonethelelss, vicariously, thanks to you
Rating: Summary: Interesting book............but a little sad Review: I have read several negative reviews about this book, but I disagree. What I have enjoyed about Danielle Steel over the years has been her ability to reflect realistic situations in her work. In 'Irresistible Forces' Steve and Meredith are a typical everyday couple who are married to their careers, and this makes their marriage suffer. Then to add insult to injury Meredith is offered a lucrative position by the conniving Cal, and this necessitates a move to another State. This, to me was the beginning of the end of their relationship, coupled with the intervention of Cal. Similar challenges face real life couples everyday and this is why I find Danielle Steel's work so heart-warming. She writes about LIFE. I challenge readers to read the book and make up their own mind about it.
Rating: Summary: human dilemma between two profound forces Review: danielle steel again casts her spell on the readers. she narrated the story very well about husband, wife and..... lover?? not another conventional love triangle story. she depicts how the passion surges even though the attempt is made to squelch it inside. she calls this passion as irresistable forces which actuate to a person to bring a marriage to an end, still nobody is culprit. thumbs up to d.s.
Rating: Summary: Who wrote this? Review: I am not sure who wrote this, but, I only kept reading this book because I have read many of Danielle's books, and just knew it had to get better. The first 66 pages could have been cut back to 5 and gave me as much information describing Meredith and Steve as I could stomach. I wonder how many times I read about how professional and good looking they are. I felt it was just an attempt to get as many pages out of the book as possible and the readers would not notice. From the other reviews here, Danielle was wrong. Come on, Danielle, you are not writing for 10 year olds!
Rating: Summary: Worst Danielle Steel read ever Review: Normally I can't put a book down that she's writeen, this was the exception. I almost didn't even finish it because I was so disgusted by Meredith and Cal. The author kept trying to portray Cal as an honest man wanting only what was best for Meredith. Yeah right, only if it included them being together. I should have known just by the reaction from Cal's children just how I would loath Meredith. They ruined the book for me.
Rating: Summary: Dissappointed Review: What happened to Danielle Steele? Is what I asked myself while reading this book. I have enjoyed many of her books in the past. They usally grab my interest from the first chapter. This book however did not. I found it to be one of the most boring and repetative books I have ever read. The little action there was in the story was saved for the last few pages. I felt that this book was printed with out much thought, basically just thrown together to get another book out. I can honestly say that I would not recommend this book to anyone. Danielle Steel has many other books that are worth reading. Don't waste time on this one.
Rating: Summary: Irresistible Forces Review: I am a big fan of Danielle Steel. I have read practically all of her books. If you are looking for a mushy, romatic story this is not it. It does tell you over and over that "Merrie" and "Steven" love each other passionately. They constantly are telling people how much they love each other and show it when they have a free minute from work. I was dissappointed with the ending though. I think that if two people truly love each other, being apart for a few months won't make them stop loving each other. Steel made the infedelities of these two people seem like it was an OK things to do, and I don't agree. On the other hand, it is only a book and one must realize that. We still read books about murder mysteries, even though we know it is wrong. The storyline is not going to shock you, but overall I thought it was a good read.
Rating: Summary: Steels done it again Review: Yeah she has.....she has managed to come up with YET another reader's nightmare. The book was a total disaster, from beginning to end. It was, as is so typical of ms. steel, boring repetitive, and monotonous. Not only did the 300 plus pages keep circling around just four characters, each one of these was as predictable as they come. After reading just a few of her books, i've begun to understand the author's writing style. Everything that she stresses in the beginning (by repeating it about a million times) is contradicted somewhere later in the story....in this case the perfect marriage Steve and Meredith share, and how faithful they are to each other. The mere fact that she talks about it twenty times in a single paragraph makes you wonder. Just like how she keeps insisting that Meredith and Cal are 'just friends and business acquaintances.' Keeping in view that the author is Danielle Steel, I would've been shocked if the two HADN'T gotten involved romantically....
Rating: Summary: What's happened to my favorite authors?? Review: This was a horrible book...no plot, same sentences and scenes being played over and over, terrible ending. And Danielle Steel is not the only one of my favorite authors that has pulled this recently (by favorite authors I mean that as soon as they have a new book out, I go and buy it). Same story with John Grisham and "The Brethren" and Robin Cook and "Abduction". All three were books nothing like their earlier books: Not well written, uninteresting plots or if interesting in the beginning deteriorated quickly, no or terrible endings. I do hope these books are not the way of the future for these authors.
