Rating: Summary: A rollercoaster of emotions that leaves you wishing for more Review: Before reading this novel, I watched the movie. I ordinarily try to do just the opposite. I found that I enjoyed the book more than the movie. The ending of the story in the book is empowering for women and leaves you with something to think about, not just the happy ending we all crave to witness on the big screen. Binchy's characters are alive and vibrant throughout the plot, causing the reader to experience true feelings towards them. I believe that there is a bit of Nan, Eve, Benny and even Sean in all of us. These characters force one to recognize that. Perhaps Binchy's story forces a subcouncious moral into the reader's mind. All in all, I recommend this book to anyone who appreciates love and friendship.
Rating: Summary: The bonds of friendship which would last forever Review: I loved this book. It brought you into the life of other people and told a story of true friendship. No matter what happened they were there for each other. This book was great and I took every free minute I had to read and finish it. I was very disappointed after the book was over because it was such a wonderful story but I'm heading for more of her books:).
Rating: Summary: The Absolute BEST Book I Have Ever Read!! Review: I bought this book a week before I went on vacation thinking that I would still be reading such a long book by then. I ended up finishing it in 2 days. This book was wonderful!!!!! I fell in love with Benny, despised Nan, and hated Jack! It showed that the beautiful people don't always turn up on top. READ THIS BOOK!! It's for anyone with a heart!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: Definitely one of my favourite books. Filled with interesting characters written with warmth and wit and yet wonderfully real. I love this book!
Rating: Summary: Absolutely based on real people...for once. Review: THis book is the most incredible book Binchy has ever written. I found myself screaming at Jack and hating Nan more than my ex boyfriend! Thiss book is the catalyst for feeling of love, hope and hate. Benny is the charactristic of a real woman, a whole woman. I am so glad i read the book before I saw the movie. The movie was so awful, I was so discusted with the end. It made Benny look gullable and doe-eyd; the exact opposite of thee real book character. Th producer and directer should be shot for ripping apart a beautiful story of growing and learaning and making it into some Diane Steele paperback in a grocery store.
Rating: Summary: i loved it! Review: this book is definitely one of my favorites. but the ending is somewhat different than the movie's end. i won't give it away, though! however, i would highly recommend this book to anyone who did enjoy the movie.
Rating: Summary: My favourite Maeve Binchy! Review: I loved this book! The characters were real to me, and I especially loved Benny. Very rarely do you find a novel with a genuinely nice protagonist, rather than one who is only witty, outgoing, or beautiful. I also liked that Benny was portrayed as "big." That makes a nice change as well. Having seen the movie first, I was reluctant to try the book, especially when Jack turned out to be 10 times worse in the book than the movie. I was glad the book turned out like it did, because I would have thrown up if Benny had gone back to him the way she did in the movie.
Rating: Summary: Great book for those who think love will never conquer Review: Circle of Friends is a great book for those, like me, who, at times, believe that love, especially true love, will never conquer. This book has been made into quite a nice movie, starring Minnie Driver and Chris O'Donnell, but nothing compares to reading this book for the first time.
Rating: Summary: i love this book! Review: At first site I did not want to read this book. With convincing I read it and instantly loved it. It is definitly my favorite book and I recommend it to anyone.
