Rating: Summary: A Colorful Novel! Review: J. California Cooper is such a prolific writer. She puts so much of her soul into her characters and her novels are very well written. I feel her special gift with each book that is released. If you take time to read all her novels, you will NOT be disappointed! J. California Cooper...I salute you!
Rating: Summary: Excellent...One of the BEST Review: J. California Cooper really captured the essence of anyone trying to discover themselves and, indeed, searching for satisfaction. From the moment I started reading, I was captivated by the liveliness and unpredictability of the storyline. I had a hard time putting the book down! This is by far the best book I've read in a long time.
Rating: Summary: One of my Favorite writers Review: J. California is one of my favorite writers. In Search of Satisfaction was, by far, her most 'out there' book. I just couldn't believe the outright scandalous nature of some of the characters. Though I think one of the underlying themes regarding Satan was overdone a bit, the real point, that people do a WHOLE lot in their quest for happiness and satisfaction, ultimately came through in the end. Most of her short stories are short, sweet and generally have happy endings. This book takes you on a wild ride with some selfish, crazy, plotting people along with a couple pure and simple folks.
Rating: Summary: This book is great ! Review: The best book I have ever read . All of the characters are all interesting . And the way all of the chararters intertwine is great . This story is great . I got this book from the library and was tempted not to take it back .
Rating: Summary: Couldn't Put It Down Review: The character development was excellent and the twists & turns of the novel were nothing less than brilliant.
Rating: Summary: Voted Best Book of 2003 ('Just Us Girls' Book Club) Review: The ladies of 'Just Us Girls' Book Club reviewed this book in June '03. Overall the group felt that this book was very good!! The author did a good job in depicting how money does not ultimately bring total satisfaction! Each character portrayed selfish characteristics... there is a thin line of pleasing yourself before pleasing others. The metaphor of the black widow spider clearly depicted the character of Carlene. Hosanna made important decisions in New Orleans that impacted her family in Yorkville. Question - `who has greater power God or money?'

Rating: Summary: SOMETIMES WE GET WHAT WE DESERVE Review: THIS BOOK I'D RECCOMEND .I ENJOYED THE AUTHOR'S WRITTING STYLE AND WAS ENTHRAWED WITH THE DICTION USED THROUGHT THE WHOLE BOOK. I ENJOYED THE SYMBOLISM EMPLOYED BY MISS COOPER.IT ACTUALLY TOOK A WHILE FOR ME TO SEE THE TRUE COMPLEXITY OF THIS NOVEL.I SUGGEST TO ANYONE WHO ENJOYS GOOD BOOKS; THIS IS ONE YOU SHOULD CONCIDER STRONGLY
Rating: Summary: Add to your must-haves Review: This book shows how you reap what you sow in life; that actions have consequences. I like giving this book as a graduation and coming of age present.
Rating: Summary: Danielle Steele If She Were Pat Robertson Review: This book was interesting, much the way night time soap operas are interesting: the events are so fantastic that you want to see what happens even though you don't give a damn about the characters. Ms. Cooper's tale reads like a miniseries on some christian TV station: all the good guys get rewarded and all the bad guys get punished - just like in real life, right??! She frequently lets us in on Satan's thoughts, and I know she knows that Satan is laughing about the lost time I wasted on this book. I'd have given it one star, but I did read the whole thing, and even if the devil made me do it, I figure that's worth an extra star.
