Rating: Summary: Well written with a great message! Review: Pigs in heaven is a great book. Kingsolver writes with a good style that really allows you to understand the characters' feelings. It shows how far a mother would go to keep her daughter from being taken from her. It was enjoyable to read, and I would definitely recommed reading the book!
Rating: Summary: This book was excellent. Review: I thought Pigs in Heaven was a great book. It is a novel that would be great for readers of all ages. I think everyone should read it at one point or another in their life.
Rating: Summary: Pigs in Heaven: a full-hearted marvel Review: Kingsolver is an excellant author! Pigs in Heaven is like a bowl of chicken soup and a warm blanket on a cold day. The characters and plot line will touch your heart. It's the kind of book that you don't want to end.
Rating: Summary: A BOOK TO MAKE YOU THINK! Review: Read "The Bean Trees" first, or else this book may be hard to get into. I liked this book almost as well as the first, just like the first book it just sucked me in. I found myself thinking about the characters during the day and would worry about them as if they were people I knew. At first I hated the lady, who was trying to take Turtle away, but the more I read the more compation I had for her as well. I am now going to read the trail of tears about the Cherokee Indians. I have also found myself thinking about people who live in poverty since reading this book, I feel blessed to find a book that gives me so much to think about that is outside of my own life experiences.
Rating: Summary: Unrealistic and a bit dull Review: I had to read this book for my english class. Although the book did have some high points, it seemed very unrealistic (too many things happened coincidently and the characters' reactions were a bit unbelievale). The only reason I gave it 2 stars is beccause of the unique writing style.
Rating: Summary: GGGRRREEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!! Review: I really enjoyed this book. Barbara Kingsolver is a wonderful author and I can't wait to read more of her books. I was a little disapointed with the ending, but it was an overall success in my mind. I especially recommend this book and "The Bean Trees" (also by the author) to highschoolers who are discovering their identities.
Rating: Summary: A great sequal to The Bean Trees Review: I am an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed this sequal to The Bean Trees. For those of you that read the first book, this one may be a bit hard to follow. For me, it tied everything together and made a great story. I definately belive this book was made for a mature audience that understands the life that Taylor and Turtle have lived. Taylor gives a new meaning to a "powerful women." I recommend it to everyone I know.
Rating: Summary: Excellant Book! Review: This sequel to THE BEAN TREES is poetic, funny, warm, and intelligent! It was very enjoyable, and I hope that there will be yet another book about Taylor & Turtle.
Rating: Summary: This is a comment based on an earlier Kingsolver book Review: Perhaps the reader who did not understand the characters of Pigs in Heaven did not read Barbara Kingsolver's earlier novel, The Bean Trees. Pigs in Heaven is a sequel to that story, so quite a bit of background knowledge is found there. I am looking forward to continuing the story of Taylor and Turtle in this second novel.
Rating: Summary: Kingolver writes nothing but "feces" Review: When I srated reading this book, I had hopes of actually enjoying it, but I was so very wrong. After finishing this book (Thank God), I sat back in amazement that someone could write so horribly. Kingsolver should be exposed for the crap, piece of junk, writer that she is. Go to Arizona and let her know yourself, you'll feel better.
