Rating: Summary: Thank you Maeve Binchy Review: Tara Road - Yes !! She did it again and will probably do it several times more. When I was done reading it I could have cried that there were no more pages of this magnificent book. I look forward to reading more of Maeve Binchy - the best author ever!!!
Rating: Summary: Another Winner! Review: As usual Maeve Binchy never lets me down. I have enjoyed all of her books and it seems each one is better than the previous.. What a wonderful writer.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: This is my first Maeve Binchy novel and I loved it. I can't wait to read her others. The characters in Tara Road were wonderful. My only complaint was that I was sad for the book to end. But I'm looking forward to reading her other works. Along with Jewel and Fried Calamari, this is the best book I've read this year.
Rating: Summary: Good Inspection of the Tapestry of Life Review: Maeve Binchy opens the window to the beauty and richness of the living of life. She has the gift of explicating the beauty, fullness, tragedy, glory of the lives lived all around. This is a warm, surprising, satisfying visit with people who are not saints or demons, but people you know -- or want to know -- and with whom you do find yourself feeling empathy and sympathy, and wishing all the best. RECOMMENDED
Rating: Summary: Impossible to put down - as ususal with MB's books! Review: I've read many of Maeve Binchy's books and recommend her to everyone. This is the first book of hers that I've read that I'm hoping for a sequel to! I want to know how Ria's business makes out, what happens to her children and to Danny, her friends Rosemary, Gertie and Mona, not to mention Marilyn, and, of course, her sister, Hilary and mom, Nora!
Rating: Summary: Maeve Binchy at her best Review: I have been reading Binchy's work for about five years now and I have read almost everything she has written. Tara Road is definitely one of her best works. The characters are superb and while some parts are slightly predictable, the plot is still captivating. A wonderful read.
Rating: Summary: I like The Glass Lake and The Evening Class better Review: I really did enjoy this book. It just seemed a little short. I think that we would have liked to read more about Marilyn -- before her life crossed with Ria's -- and more about Ria -- after her life crossed with Marilyn's. I'd recommend this book -- and have passed it on to my sister, mother, and grandmother. However, I think The Glass Lake and The Evening Class both grabbed me a little more than this one. Bottom line -- also read The Glass Lake and The Evening Class.
Rating: Summary: Maeve Binchy fans will be pleased with her newest novel. Review: Once again, Ms. Binchy has written an engrossing tale about a cluster of villagers who live on Tara Road. The vignettes and descriptions make for fascinating reading as the reader becomes intimately acquainted with each character. This book is highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: A wonderfully comfortable read Review: The characters in the book make me feel as comfortable as if they are my next door neighboors or friends whom I've known for a long time. True, the book does not set the adrenaline flowing. It goes on at its own comfortable pace and it has a surprising power to make the reader turn the pages on and on and feel wistful when it comes to an end.
Rating: Summary: Delightful from beginning to end... Review: I bought "Tara Road" after reading an excerpt placed in 12-packs of diet coke. It was my first Binchy novel, but I've already checked "The Glass Lake" out of the library. "Tara Road" is thoroughly entertaining. Its charachters are interesting and realistic, with depth one doesn't often find.
