Rating: Summary: A wonderful story of how everyday people become interesting Review: I have never been one to read novels, but after reading a small portion of Tara Road, I've been hooked on Mauve Binchey! In this story one can feel as if they are sitting at the movies...You can picture the handsome Danny Lynch & the sweet innocent Ria. I couldn't decide whether to hate Danny or to have a little compassion for him. I loved the characters & how one could picture Tara Road with Binchey's wonderful descriptions. The end was wonderful, the way it took a wist & then turn. After I finish one book the hardest decision is which one to buy next!
Rating: Summary: STORYTELLING AT IT'S FINEST Review: I have been reading Binchy for years, and "Tara Road" doesn't disappoint! From the opening sentence to the final paragraph, this book captured all my attention. I read it in three days, and was cranky when interrupted, and dreamt about the characters when I went to sleep! Ms. Binchy KNOWS women, and life and heartaches and trials and triumphs. This is why her books are so wonderful, they have something every reader can relate to somewhere. I hope she has a long, prolific life, and writes and writes and writes!
Rating: Summary: Binchy not at her best Review: I cannot put my finger on it but somehow I felt dissappointed with this book.I am a huge Binchy fan and had read and reread almost all of her books at least a thousand times but this one I left on the shelf after one read.It is not that I did not enjoy it,I simply felt it lacked that something special one uasually finds with her.Maybe Ria was too naive,or Danny got away with too much for too long, who knows?I just know it did not have that uasual spellbinding effect I had come to expect from her.
Rating: Summary: Excellent reading Review: I read this book in 3 days - unable to put it down. Maeve Binchy has written another book that I will read and reread. I found it comparable to "Circle of Friends" another book I keep with my classics. The characters are so real, and you want to step into Ria's kitchen to laugh and cry with her. The introduction of Marilyn Vine later in the book was a pleasant surprise but another character one instantly identifies and sympathizes with. I'm recommending it to everyone I know.
Rating: Summary: VINTAGE BINCHY!! Review: I loved this book!! I read this book in record time, loved even the unloveable characters and was caught up in each and every storyline. I have read quite a bit by this author and there has only been one I didn't like at all. Tara Road ranks up at the top of the list. Read it! Enjoy it! Keep it to re-read again! (I am mother of a teen-ager; age 40; full-time career; avid reader)
Rating: Summary: Excellent!! Binchy at her best! Review: While visiting Ireland, I bought this book because it was advertised everywhere, so I figured it must be good. I began reading it during my 2 week stay and finished it here in America. This book brought the United States and Ireland together so well, even though when starting to read it, you have no idea how she will do it. This was a great book to read and I cried and laughed along with Ria and the others. Binchy developed the characters so well. I recommend this to anyone who wants to read a great novel!!
Rating: Summary: it needs a sequel Review: i enjoyed the book very much but think it definitely needs a further look into the lives of all the main characters. they are too interesting to leave to our imagination.
Rating: Summary: A Good Look at Real Characters Review: I loved this Binchy novel. Not only did she mesh two worlds together, but Binchy focuses on two very human characters. I like the fact that they are very fragile and flawed; they reacted as most people might. A wonderful, quick read!
Rating: Summary: So great for a summer read, I was sorry for it to end! Review: I have read everything Maeve Binchy has written and this is my favorite. The development of her characters make them so believable you could recognize them in the supermarket! Not a lot of boring detail but to-the-point storyline. I quickly learned to love Ria, but wanted to shake her for her naivete. Thanks, Ms. Binchy
Rating: Summary: Maeve Binchey best book yet Review: This is a wonderful summer read. It brings together two world in a wonderful story about people. I got totally lost in it, sneaking time from job and family to indulge. She has a great ability to take the reader with her to the very core of these peoples lives so that you share their grief and their triumphs. write some more please Maeve
