Summary: great story! i didn't want it to end!
Review: I don't know what words to use to describe how MUCH I loved this book. The characters were interesting, the innocence of the main character was charming... I kept waiting for Marilyn's character to show up and finally she did, helping our heroine grow strong & further advancing their intertwined stories. I enjoyed the 2 kids, they were so genuine. I felt like I hit gold when I found Tara Road at the library!! I look forward to reading other Binchy titles.

Summary: Surprisingly Good
Review: I did not expect to like this book as much as I did. It started out slow -- a little to soap-operaish for my taste. But as the story progressed, I enjoyed it more and more. I think that the characters were diverse and well defined, enough to save the book for being totally fluffy. I did not find it always predictable. There were usually several ways the plot could have gone, and you were never sure exactly which way it would go. I would have given this book three and a half stars; it is a little better than average. It is not a soul searching, in-depth read, but if you are looking for some good light reading, but you generally do not like soap operas or romance novels, try this one.

Summary: Will it ever end???
Review: Oprah what happened to you??? I just don't get it. I can't believe all these wonderful reviews...what am I missing????? I have read Circle of Friends and would give it maybe 3 stars but Tara Road is PAINFULLY long and tedious. I hate to pay money for a hardback and find myself skipping over whole paragraphs. This book does not hold my interest, it is way way too long and I am soooo tired of it but determined to finish!!! Come on Oprah, I have read every single one of your picks and this one ranks right up at the top for being a "mystery pick" to me!! Oh well, you can't win them all!!!Ha

Summary: Loved it!
Review: I think this is one of my all time favorite books!!! I loved the way Binchy wrote, her style and how she developed the characters. I am glad Oprah chose this book.

Summary: Maeve Binchy's 13th book IS a lucky number & a great read.
Review: Tara Road is a magnificent tapestry of families and friends all woven magically by the gifted and under-estimated writer, Maeve Binchy. This novelwill have you wanting to be on the next flight for Ireland. Binchy masterfully crosses all barriers, and has written a wonderful novel that anyone with a family can relate to, and does! Plus, don't be intimidated by the 512 pages, they fly as quickly as a gaggle of geese going south for the winter. This begs for a follow-up to see where all these delightful people, even the scallywags end up. Like a favorite soap-opera, one cannot help but ponder these thoughts after such a satisfying read as this. Circle of Friends was a snack, Tara Road is a feast!

Summary: An extraordinary novel
Review: This book is a rare find - well drawn characters, beautifully written, interesting twists and turns, and ultimately, very uplifting. I highly recommend it. I felt like I was a fly on the wall in Ria's kitchen. And I'd love to return there! I felt bad leaving these characters when the book ended.

Summary: This book was great!
Review: First, I didn't think it would be any good because the scene took place in Ireland. I was totally wrong--the book was very good. It was so good that I organized a book club, starting with this book..I have 6 co-workers involved in this book club& I can't wait until we get to discuss this great book. Thanks Maeve Binchy-great job!!!!

Summary: Great escapist reading
Review: Maeve Binchy books are sometimes trite. But Tara Road is utterly fab. Yes Ria is slightly annoying but she gets better. I love Brian and I love Ria's mother - there are some hilarious one-liners from these two. An accurate story about Ireland it is not, but it is a great, absorbing read and will take you away from it all

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: An indepth view of extended family relationships - inspiring
Review: This book gave me an excellent opportunity to reflect on every component of a person's family and where they fit in. A very personally satisfying book which introduced me to some new friends! I didn't want to finish the book because I knew I would have to say goodbye to some very special people.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Most engrossing book I have read in a long time!
Review: This is the first time I have read anything by this author (but definitely not the last). I was fully absorbed by about the 10th page and couldn't put it down. The characters were so real and so believable that you felt that you knew them. I would love to see a continuation of this story!
