Summary: Tara Road
Review: I was amazed at some of the negative reviews about this wonderful book. I think it spoke to the life that all women in Western culture face today. I cannot imagine the need for it to be with an Irish accent, good lord, it would have taken days longer to read. I have experienced similar life situations to both Mona and Ria and although their personal solutions may surpass what many of us do I know many women who do survive as well. All of the people in the book touched me and I have met and known everyone of them in my life here in America. Maeve Binchy sometimes does start out slowly but ends with you wanting her books to go further.

Summary: The review of Tara Road
Review: Tara Road is a book of true life. You can not trust most friends, your husband can cheat on you, your children aren't prefect and you can change your life course at 40. The book was easy to read and you really don't want it to end. You want to find out what happens to Ria and Colm and all the people on Tara Road. A good book with realistic life experience.

Summary: Did I miss something?
Review: If you are a person who like the bad guys and gals to get their just rewards, this book isn't for you. How could Maeve let Danny and Rosemary get away with such outrageous behavior. Although I initially enjoyed the book, hoping it was going somewhere, I finished thinking this is it! Why did Oprah pick this book to read? I definitely had questions and I also felt a bit dissatisfied. Juicy, but no satisfaction. How can this be?

Summary: Great Reading!
Review: In the beginning its a little slow, but it picks up tremendously and you can't help but feel great compassion for the characters! This book is definitely worth reading!

Summary: Tara Road
Review: I found the book to be completely tedious. After trying desperately to get "into" the book, hope sprung eternal for me that something good had to happen in the 500+ pages. However, by the end, I remained completely disappointed. Binchy elevates the Ria character to sainthood while condemning the American, Marilyn, to the role of a cold and distant witch. The constant reminders of all Ria's abilities wore really thin. This has been my first and last Binchy book.

Summary: For us Irish Americans
Review: Attracted first by the New England/Ireland connection, I found that this novel's appeal is the two women, Ria and Marilyn and their relationships with husband, children, other family members, and friends. One woman is outgoing and sure of her life (only to be devasted by her husband's betrayal); the other woman keeps to herself, grieving the loss of her teenage son to the point that she keeps his bedroom as it was when he was alive. They trade lives, as it were, when the Ria goes to Connecticut and Marilyn goes to Dublin. I love the telling of the strengths and weaknesses of these women, the children (and their astute understanding of the adult world), the husbands, Ria's mother, and the friends (some whacky, some tragic). Maeve Binchy has given us some great characters to relate to.

Summary: Lovely and delightful book!
Review: I started this book Sunday afternoon and finished it Monday night. I literally could not put it down- reading until 3:30 in the morning each night. What wonderful characters and writing and feeling! Do yourself a favor and pick this novel up. It's beautiful.

Summary: Wonderful!
Review: Although it was a little difficult to get into, I found this book to be wonderful! The characters are believable as is the story line. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in a real feel good story.
