Rating: Summary: Depends What you like, pleasurable Read ! I enjoyed it ! Review: I enjoyed this book for the reason it was light, easy and full of gossip. I tend to go for mysterys, thillers and horrors, however this book kept catching my eye, once I started the pages kept turning, I became engrossed with the characters and felt the emotions they experienced, I hope their is a sequel, I would like to see a few charaters get their cumeuppance, Ria was definalty to soft ! Maeve obviously has a sense of humour, however it was only towards the end it was introduced which was dissapointing, shame, Annie and Brian had me in stitches. - If you want a good light read - IT'S A MUST ! - This is my first Maeve Binchy and I will read more.
Rating: Summary: Very Enjoyable. Review: "Tara Road" is a very honest and intelligent book by the wonderful author Maeve Binchy. I've been a longtime fan of Ms. Binchy's and I found this book to be one of her best. (not, THE best...save "Circle of Friends" for that one) But, I enjoyed this one, none the less. All of her books are so character driven. And, you truly want to know them. You care about them, and worry for their future. Ms. Binchy is a rare and wonderful talent. I can't wait to read her next book. :)
Rating: Summary: Not my type. Review: This book was very hard to read, too many characters being introduced at one time and there were none I found interesting enough to want to keep reading.

Rating: Summary: Truly outstanding! Review: I listened to the unabridged audio version of this book read by Katherine Borowitz. I found the story to be utterly spellbinding in every way! The characters were brought to life with the wonderful literary skills of Ms. Binchy and the outstanding verbal performance of Ms. Borowitz.I was caught up in the lives of the characters. They became old friends and I was sad to let them go when the book ended. I am hoping there will be a sequel so that we can share more adventures with the quirky, loveable and oh so human characters. Highly Recommended!
Rating: Summary: Page turner Review: Tara Road is the first book I've read by Maeve Binchy and it will not be the last. I was hooked from page one, immediately calming my nerves about tackling a book of that size, fearing it would not hold my interest. It did. I could relate to the characters, feel their emotions and understand their situations. It was a charming, thought provoking book that made me examine some of my own actions. I would recommend it to anyone willing to take a closer look at themselves.
Rating: Summary: Maeve Binchy writes a winner! Review: I listened to "Tara Road" on audiobook and the narrator really made the characters come alive with her Irish accent, though sometimes I had to strain to understand what she had said. It did take a while to get into the story, but after the first two tapes, I was hooked. The characters of Ria and Marilyn were recognizable, as I am about the same age as they were. I did wish, though, that in the end, Ria would find out about Rosemary having an affair with Danny all those years, and that Annie would have confessed at having witnessed them in the act. I also wanted Ria to tell Danny to get lost after all the troubles he had caused and was glad that she didn't get back together with him when Bernadette lost the baby. The beginning of the story was a bit drawn out, but never having been to Ireland, I thought it was interesting and probably necessary to set the scene of how Ria completely lived for Danny and her children. I have read other Maeve Binchy books and have enjoyed all of them.
Rating: Summary: the perfect getaway Review: This was the first Binchy book I've read and I'll definitely be reading more. It was rather light but written quite intelligently--full of many interesting characters,a well-developed, meaningful plot with enough turns to keep anyone interested. The ending was marvelous--a gradual spiral upward that I found most satisfying. My only beef is that, having never been outside the states, I would have loved to get a better sense of the Dublin outside Tara Road. Her scenes in the states also seemed to lack a certain sense of place.
Rating: Summary: So-so Review: Tara Road is definitely not one of Binchy's best books. Although the storylines interact well as they usually do in her works, I care so little about most of the characters that I had to force myself to keep reading. Very drawn out in places, especially the early descriptions of home life in the Lynch household. The female characters are very static, especially Annie after she hits adolescence. All we see is her picking at her brother, and it gets very old after the 6th scene where she tells him to shut up. Ria, Rosemary, Gertie, Marilyn, Hilary, Nora, et al, none of them are people I would want to know. This is the first Binchy book I haven't been drawn into and thoroughly enjoyed, so I am really disappointed! The modern setting of the book doesn't help it either, and the introduction of the Internet feels forced. I am sorry I could not review this book more positively, but I really took a dislike to the whole effort and can't shake it.
Rating: Summary: Too wordy for me! Review: I found this book very slow moving. I tried and tried. Usually I can't put a good book down. The story sounded good, but I guess I never made it that far...
