Summary: I Still Liked The First One Better
Review: Mary Monroe is an awesome author, and immediately after I found out she had planned a sequel for God Don't Like Ugly, I waited with baited breath. Not everything can be as good as the original. That's for sure.

As good as the first novel was and all her subsequent novels were, something tells me that the fault does not lie in Mary Monroe for this sequel falling so flatly. I could be wrong (I usually am), but something tells me a hatchet job was done on this book. The characters were not nearly as strong or well written as the first book, and the story itself just meandered about until it came to a much needed rest.

Very disappointing and definitely not up to Ms. Monroe's usual caliber.

Summary: Still The One
Review: Mary Monroe is one of my favorite writers and I was excited when I spotted this book in the store because I could not wait to read it. It did not disappoint. It was great to see all the old characters from God Don't Like Ugly back, along with some new ones that were just was vibrant. Mary has a way of describing actions that is amazing, but her dialogue is top-notch. I still remember specific dialogue from her other books and there are many lines I will cherish from this one. This is definitely one of my all-time favorites.

Summary: Mary Monroe Writes Captivating Characters
Review: Mary Monroe writes about real people I think any reader can relate to her books. She writes reality fiction. Her characters have stayed with me from each one of her novels that I have read. We also must know that everyone can not write a sequel. She does not disappoint as she gives ys the update on old characters and introduces new characters. One new character Jerome who is courting Annette makes you want to smack him until the whitemeat shows. But he gets his in the end. Annette after all she has been through ends up blessed at the end. And well I won't say anymore but GO TO THE BOOKSTORE AND BUT THIS BOOK!!!!!

Summary: What Goes Around, Comes Around
Review: Mary Monroe's highly anticipated sequel, GOD STILL DON'T LIKE UGLY, does not disappoint. The story picks up with some familiar faces from God Don't Like Ugly and includes a few new characters for a little extra spice. The protagonist, Annette Goode is still plagued by memories of her abuse at the hands of Mr. Boatwright and the devious deeds that her best friend Rhoda performed. Annette also has unresolved feelings towards her father for abandoning his family for a white woman. Because of all the pain and grief she has endured, this novel finds a stronger, more confident Annette who is able to cope with all the twists, turns, and pitfalls that life has to offer. In this novel, she will learn about true love, true friendship, and the lessons that you cannot escape from your past and that "what goes around comes around."

Although a sequel, GOD STILL DON'T LIKE UGLY, recounts much of the story for new readers without being redundant. It is definitely a stand-alone book. If you did not read the first novel, you will not be lost trying to figure out characters or plots in order to follow the story line. Mary Monroe has again woven a cast of colorful, unforgettable characters. She intertwines humor and a bit of romance while tackling intense social issues such as rape, child abandonment, prostitution, and racial tensions. Fans of Monroe will be delighted with her newest novel. My only disappointment came when the last page had been turned.

Summary: Mary Monroe "Still" has it going on!!
Review: Once I open the book the pages never stopped turning I read the entire book all in one day. I am a huge fan of mary monroe. She has out done herself again touching on the issues of life, death, love, pain, and the healing process that we must all go through at one stage or another in our life to get over these issues. She hit the nail on the head by simply saying that the choices you make in life will come back to haunt you in way or another, weather it comes in a good form or a bad one we all must pay that price.

Summary: PHENOMENAL!!
Review: Talk about Karmic Return! I loved this book. I empathsized with Rhoda, who had a warped sense of judgement. I do think that she was a loyal friend, and that she meant to take care of the things that justice seems to take to long in doing. I do not agree with Rhoda's actions, but I understand them.

Mary Monroe really needs to make yet, another sequel. I want to know what motivated Rhoda to be this way. She should create a childhood before her friendship with Annette, and show some details of what created her to be as she is, now. Also, it just can't end this way, we need to know if Rhoda will be healed, did she learn a lesson about her actions, will she reform? Or will she become more bitter about her karmic outcome? Out of anger, will she kill again, even wish to kill Annette next time? It seems that Annette faired better than she did in the long run.

Mary KEEP THIS STORY GOING, girl!

Summary: ...And Ain't Too Particular About Pretty
Review: There's not much to say except Mary Monroe never fails to deliver good writing. This is an honest, heartwarming sequel to "God Don't Like Ugly". Annette has come into her own and though there are times where her self esteem is lagging she picks herself up and comes out like the star that she is. Her supporting casts of characters are still funny, saying and doing things that you can relate to with people in your life. If you like Mary Monroe's colorful characters, I would strongly recommend you read "The Upper Room" and "Gonna Lay Down My Burdens". I can't wait for her next book.

Summary: Ok
Review: This book just answered questions from the first book and showed us how with all Anette went through she ended up being with the love of her life and having everything that she thought was perfect in Rhoda's life.

This book definitely showed up how God still don't like ugly. Everything that Rhoda did in life came right back to her in a different form even to her children and brother. Anette saw how she was not as perfect as she thought and that she had to pay for all of her sins even though Rhoda thought she was doing justice in her own way. She didn't let God handle matters in his own time.
