Summary: An unforgettable feel-good romantic comedy!
Review: Two years ago before leaving for good, my best friend gave me her copy of the book. Naturally I was devastated, having known my friend for years. She knew that this book would really cheer me up. I remember reading it at the library and laughing uncontrolably despite lots of irritated looks. It's such an amazing book! I was hooked from the very first page. It made me laugh and cry (sorry, I couldn't help it). There were so many parts in it where I found myself sniffling because most of the descriptions hit rather close to home. I enjoyed 'Watermelon' as well, but not as much as I enjoyed this book. It's horribly worn out from having read it so many times. My favourite part is the one in the Russian restaurant -- it had me in stitches! If you've read it, you'll know what I mean -- if you haven't, I suggest you do. You'll really love it!

Summary: EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: BUY THIS BOOK!!!! It is out of print but reserve it at least!! It is incredibly funny you will laugh out loud about 5000 times! Marian Keyes is BRILLIANT!!!!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Absolutely brilliant, a-laugh-a-minute.
Review: From beginning to end this book is brilliant and easily readable and relateable to real life. I loved reading this book and have also read Watermelon and am in the process of reading Rachel's Holiday. Lucy Sullivan is a down to earth person who suffered from depression in her childhood which returns after she visits Mrs Nolan, a fortune teller.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Almost as good as Watermelon
Review: I read "Watermelon" first and was completely mezmerized by Keyes' writing style, the depth of her characters, AND her tremendous sense of humor. If you like "Lucy", you must read "Watermelon". It's a bit more light-hearted, though the subject matter is also intense.

Summary: They finally made it available to the U.S readers
Review: I found the Marian Keyes books about three years ago and I bought all three of them upon reading the cover description of the first. I loved them from the first page on. She writes so fresh and poignantly true that you expect your best friend to pop up any minute. What I really loved about the books is the typical English way which differs so greatly from the American books of this genre. I recommended the books to all my friends but then nobody in either the States nor the Australias had ever heard of her. I don't know how the American version reads itself but if you can get hold of the British one do so and do it in hardcover for you will read it many times!!!

Summary: An amazing book, felt like I was reading about myself
Review: Bought the book when my Gran, (formerly Lucy Sullivan) was celebrating her 60th Wedding Anniversary. This was M Keyes first book that I read, and loved it. It felt like she was writing about me. Her books are so refreshing, such a pleasure to read, I become a hermit whenever reading her work. Have read all 3 books, twice, and would love to know if she's written anything else.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Funny and realistic!! Look out Bridget Jones!
Review: I agree with the reviewer before me - buy this book!! I too have read all of her books so far - and I loved them all! HOWEVER - the UK edition is almost TWICE as long as the US - I am curious as to what they cut out!! It's a shame because I laughed at every page - can't imagine what they would cut.

You can get the original UK paperback for a little less than the US hardcover costs (including shipping) at Amazon.UK - I'd advise that move actually!

Summary: BUY THIS BOOK!!!
Review: The day this is published, BUY IT! Better yet, reserve a copy NOW! I bought the UK edition of this book and loved it! It isn't as good as Watermelon, but what is? Although it is SOOOO close to being as good. I also read Rachel's Holiday (avail on amazon.uk.co) and it just as great. I can't wait until Keyes' writes again! She has another book that was just published in the UK but I can't find a copy. I can only imagine it will be wonderful! Again, BUY THIS BOOK! You will love it.

Summary: Universal View of Single Women in the Nineties
Review: Marian Keyes presents an extremely humourous, yet truthful view of the life of single women in the nineties. Love (and a decent husband) are elusive, or are they. Parents, work and friends are also examined in this laugh a minute novel. Great gift for a single girl friend or spoil yourself and curl up with this book on a long wet weekend. Bliss

Marian Keyes is a fabulous new Irish novelist, she presents Ireland as it is, not a romanticised, sanitised view!!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Rip-roaring fun
Review: This was a laugh-a-minute, fun-riot of a book. I don't know how many times I found myself laughing out loud at the snappy dialogue and hilarious characters. Even though you knew exactly where this book was going, the journey was always fun.
